Ever watched the Roots miniseries or when it originally was broadcast on ABC back in 1977. For those of you all that have never heard of it, it was an Alex Haley best-seller about two wars as the Civil & Revolutionary War about slavery and the family and relatives as well as life of Kunta Kinta. Who was forced to take the name of Toby. A young newcomer named Levar Burton was introduced to the world. Also it starred Leslie Uggams, Ben Vereen, John Amos, Edward Asner, Lorne Greene, Robert "Brady Bunch" Reed, among an all-star cast. It coined the term "miniseries" and over eight nights over 130 million viewers watched the miniseries. It had two other sequals but they couldn't even top the original as the original stands out as the most important as well as most watched show in the history of tv. Warning though: It is not at all for the faint of heart. It has very violent parts as this was the slavery movement. But please it will also tug at your heart as well as like Dances with Wolves did with the Native Americans. Please go rent or buy on vhs or dvd. It will just shake you to the core.
