  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am amazed that you attempt to draw such conclusions from the passage that you do. The passage does not give the least remote hint that God made the choice on foreseen faith. In fact the passage says the direct opposite. God made his decision of electing one person over the other based upon exactly what the texts say.... something in himself... "by him who calls."; not something God foresaw in us.

Your whole post is painfully bad.

His purpose in election is that the one who responds in faith to the call becomes the elect. It is not by being good or bad, by natural lineage, by being the firstborn, or by keeping the Law, but by responding to the call by faith. This is what the whole book of Romans is about a righteousness by faith.

Rom 1:5-6
Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith. 6 And you also are among those who are called to belong to Jesus Christ

Sola, you err. Nowhere in scripture does it say those who have faith THEN become elect. That renders the point of election pointless. Election is personal, God's plan is personal. He chose people and His purpose is NOT a plan, but a people. His point in electing is bestowing saving grace on specific people to SAVE. It is perfect, and it is effective. It does not make people "savable", but it SAVES. Nowhere in scripture can you find God's plan making everyone "savable" (adjective)... NOWHERE.

The verse makes no such proposition that you suggest. In fact no verse exists which says that election comes by foreseen faith.

The problem is with that is that would make His purpose "impersonal" (purposing a plan) but God purposed to elect a PEOPLE, it is PERSONAL... for those WHOM He foreknew, NOT for WHAT He foreknew... that is the problem you can not get around, it isn't actions that He is looking at in the future, it is a choice before time to enter into a RELATIONSHIP with PEOPLE that He "loves" (as like Adam "knew" Eve) ...
