Romans 9: Will God leave me here?

I've posted recently about how legalistic misinterpretations about sexuality had done massive damage to that part of my being, and my faith in God. I was roaming the 'net for support and came across a page on Wikipedia about Sexual Anorexia, and many of the symptoms rang true.

I know God can heal me in this area, but my mind always seems to wander back to those dreaded passages in Romans 9 about how He seems to use people for less-than-ideal purposes.

Can anyone with major psychological issues that were cured by Him chime in?

You may be focusing on the wrong things. Our humanity is not such a big deal as we often think. Have a try at focusing on these type of verses. 'If anyone be in Christ he is a new creation the former things have passed away-all things have become new' 'For we thus judge that one died for all, therefore have all died, so that all those who live might not live unto themselves but unto Him who died and rose again for their sake' 'for you are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God' 'for we have the mind of Christ' 'He that is born of God does not commit sin for Gods seed remains in him and he cannot sin because he is born of God' 'To the pure in heart all things are pure' In Acts Peter talks about their experience of having their hearts purifyed by faith(not works)...I had a thousand battles while discovering that the old me died with Jesus and the new me is just like Him.. hope that helps

There are two types. One is based on a lack of interest (no sexual lust) and the other is based on fear. The first is a gift (a gift of celibacy can be powerfully used by God) and the other is False Evidence Appearing Real (FEAR) and is a sin because it is mastering you and should be overcome in the context of a healthy marital relationship. It has to do with your misunderstanding and imaginations which exalt themselves against the truth (and Christ) though you still lust.

Thank you for posting, Pshun. You obviously have a thing for psychology; I appreciate it too.

It's largely fear, I guess. Contrary to what some folks say, I don't think God destines anyone for either marriage or singledom, in the rare exceptions where He chooses to put someone in harm's way, i.e. Jeremiah. I don't think He has some huge plan for me on the horizon for the time being.

I've also done a lot of research on the risks involved in marriage, especially for Western men like myself, and that has made a single, celibate life seem more sensible.

He never leaves you where you were at longer than you are willing to stay where you are at.

Don't focus on things outside of you for the answer.
