Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
This verse is interesting in that the "Spirit of him" is not the same as Jesus spirit. Any thoughts on this? Also, if Spirit of him (Not Jesus.) dwell in you will quicken your mortal body. Thoughts.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father and the Spirit of the Son. There are three Divine Persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
If by "Jesus' spirit" you are referring to His human soul, then that's correct, the Holy Spirit is not Jesus' human soul. Jesus' soul, like His body, is part of His humanity; along with His human will. As He is fully human and like us in all ways but without sin.
But Jesus, as the Eternal Son of the Father, is truly God, and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Him even as the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father. This is because the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, though distinct Divine Persons, are one-and-same in Being. One God, Three Persons, Holy Trinity.
So what Paul is saying here is that it will be the Holy Spirit that quickens our bodies in the resurrection. I believe, and have frequently argued, that this is why Paul, in 1 Corinthians 15, calls the future resurrected body a "Spiritual body" (Greek:
soma pneumatikon), because in contrast to our present kind of life in the body which is ruled by soulishness (Paul calls the present body a "soulish body" or
soma psuchekon in Greek), when we are raised up bodily from the dead in the future our bodies will be transformed with a new kind of life, a life that is from the Holy Spirit.
