  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

One of the things CF has done for me is expose me to all the different streams of the faith; <snip>
Yes...me too...I've learned a lot from some....and some of these different streams though...I really could have gone my whole life not knowin' about...and been just fine.... I had no idea how much different stuff is out there before I came to CF...
<snip>While we each think the other is wrong in some respects of doctrine, the bottom line is we are serving the Lamb as we best understand, and when we love the Lord our God with all our hearts, souls, minds, and spirits and love our neighbor as our self we are then following the greatest commandments and are unified by that.

....it's not about us...it's all about HIM...:amen:

I agree with MrJim & Cris's last posts.

As a side note, I've been fortunate to form friendships with a colony of Hutterites in the Lewistown MT area over the years. They are most generous, always wanting friends & I to stay for dinner. The women then bring out their home sewn articles, aprons & so forth that they are happy to sell for a dollar or two.

A very devout group but have the latest and best in farming equipment.

Hutterites are an interesting group~sorta Amish but then not. Plough Publishing is (or was) a part of a Hutterite community-I've gotten many books from them in the past. I'd like to think I could live in community like that...

MrJim,

They are a very strict sect. One elder oversees all aspects of the colony.

The colony I know has vast property. One section alone is 6000 acres. One of many. Yes, similar to the Amish but with the distinction of modern techniques & equipment for farming, hogs, poultry, etc.

Some ,( a minority), of kids leave the colony and venture out on their own to persue an alternative way of life.

I have great memories of spending time with these devout Christians.

Helping mend fences and working along side them with daily chores goes a long way towards creating goodwill & earning their friendship & trust.

Sounds like an excellent alternative to me, though I probably romanticize it in my mind.
