Don’t set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Don’t be wise in your own conceits. 17 Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men. 18 If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. 19 Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. This emphasizes Jesus’ nonviolent ministry and God’s forgiving nature as preached by Paul.

Oh yeh! God is so full of compassion. Which is why I sometimes feel like David, always knew how to manipulate the system. Look at the story where he killed Uriah> Also when he took a census against God's will. In the end each time, God would let him off the hook.

David sinned and was willing to repent. That is why he is said to be a man after Gods own heart. If you are calling that manipulation I would say Davids guilty as charged.

(Isa. 2:1-5) mentions weapons would be done away at some point.

and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

The NT way of dealing with men is much different than during OT times. Being humble and teaching truth and obeying truth is what it's all about today.

Being at peace with all men (Rom. 12:18).

Interpretation : You are not to be someone's door mat.

A dictionary described meek as enduring injury with patience, not violent. I suppose it is in line with Jesus teaching them to turn the other cheek. It does not mean weak or lazy.

If someone offends me I may tell it to his or her face. I may not threaten harm.

A secular dictionary is the wrong filter to use to use to try to understand spiritual words.
