  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

4 But what does the divine response say to him? “I have reserved for Myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal."
5 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

Stumbled across this while I was reading last night and wondered if anyone had any insight as to who these 7000 are, if they are reserved apart from the 144,000 in the book of Revelation, and what there roles are in the end times? Have they been here this whole time or are scattered across the ages in fleshly bodies to become part of the surviving remnant?

There seems to be a clear difference here to me between the elect 144,000 and the very elect 7000 spoken of in this scripture.

1 Kings contains an additional comment about them very similar to what Paul is speaking of in chapter 19-

18 Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.

There is a difference. Paul was quoting an Old Testament conversation between God and Elijah:

Together for the Gospel: 7000 who have not bowed the knee | Calvary Baptist Church

Just as a multitude of OT Jews didn't fall into idolatry, there will be a multitude who remain faithful to God in the future.

Yes Paul was just using the 7000 as an example to his readers that God always preserved a remnant truly faithful to Him. Even today we have many make-believers and many mistaken believers (believing based on denominational form) who like those in ancient Judaism followed the crowd of popularity thinking erroneously that they are fine.

In His love

Paul
