Rom. 9:17

Myself and others who believe the King James Bible is the word of God without error have been accused of “worshipping a book”. Ever heard that one before? Well, we don’t’ worship a book. We know we can’t write on God for god is a Spirit. We’ve got more sense than people think we have.

I can say this – we have an improper estimation on the word of God today. Yes, it is a book but not just any book. Sometimes the scriptures seem like they have some of the attributes of our Lord and we will look at this one day.

But let’s look at a couple of strange passages and let’s just see how powerful these scriptures are.

Rom 9:17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might show my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.

Strange – since does the scripture speak to Pharaoh? Well, let’s go back to Exodus and see the context:

Exo 9:16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to show in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

Now, look at vs. 13 –

Exo 9:13 And the LORD said unto Moses, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.

The Lord said that!!! Do you know what Paul did? Paul substituted the word “scripture” for the word “LORD” and didn’t bat an eye. :D
Did the Holy Spirit equate the word with God here? I don’t care how you call it – it appears the Holy Spirit has a higher estimation of the written word than we do.

In Exodus 9:16 the LORD said that – in Romans 9:17 the scriptures said it. Which passage is right? They both are.

The scriptures speak – Rom 9:17

The scriptures discern – Heb. 4:12

The scriptures are called he Heb. 4:13

And some folks say we have a too high of an estimation of the word of God.

One more verse and let’s call it quits.

Is Jesus name above every name? According to Paul Jesus name is above every name. Phil 2:9

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

OK. Then what do you do with Psa. 138:2e the word is magnified above every name.

Psa 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

The word is above every name.

And some folks say we have a too high of an estimation of the word of God!

Well, leave us alone and let us magnify the word above every name.

May God bless!
