Appearance: Roden is tall and has always been thin, though never skinny or unhealthy. As he lives in the Castle of Magic on the palace grounds and is in the employ of the king, he always wears fine dark robes of cobalt blue and black, an example of his station. His skin is very fair as he spends most of his time concocting remedies and potions indoors. His eyes are a deep brown with a copper-colored circle around the edges. He is clean-shaven and his hair is blue-black, hanging in silky tresses about his face and shoulders. He could be considered handsome, but he rarely smiles and there is a stern look to his face, his mouth thin and eyes narrowed slightly.
Personality: Roden has never been an outgoing person. He tends to hold people at a distance and isn't good at showing emotion. Because of that, he can come across as snobbish when he really isn't. He is simply uncomfortable being around a lot of people, and therefore, doesn't have many friends. Roden is extremely intelligent and is excellent at solving puzzles. He loves to learn and is constantly experimenting with his potion-making. He is also very observant, especially of people, and has the uncanny ability to read and interpret people's emotions or attitudes simply by watching them. He also has the tendency to use this to manipulate situations to his advantage.
Bio: Roden's father, Galen, was a very powerful sorcerer and expected his son to be such as well. However, by the age of eight, Roden still hadn't shown any sign of magical ability. Disgusted, Galen gave his son away to a local medicine man who said he needed help collecting ingredients for his tonics. Three years later it was discovered that Galen was not only a sorcerer, but was dabbling in necromancy as well. He was thus banished to Necromion and hasn't been heard from since. Roden, however, thrived in his new home with the medicine man. He found, that while he hadn't shown any outward signs of magical ability in other areas, he was extremely gifted in the area of alchemy. Soon, Roden's mentor became his student, as Roden surpassed him in knowledge and began teaching him instead of learning from him. Finally, he branched out on his own and, hailed by most of the populace as one of the best alchemists in the land, was hired at the age of 23 by King Jadir as his personal physician and healer. But that is when things began to unravel. When Roden first set eyes upon Queen Kaira, he was entranced. He had never seen anyone as beautiful and kind. For years he admired her from afar, too shy and honestly too afraid of King Jadir's stern hand to do anything about his feelings for the queen. But recently he has been growing somewhat bolder, finding excuses to be in her presence or to speak to her, sharing small smiles and glances that reveal his longing for her, hoping she will respond as he searches for a way to steal her away from the king.
