Rock Star : Supernova

I have liked seeing the human side of Dilana - she has seemed really cocky at times and utterly demonic at others, and now we see her as a human being. She was obviously still very upset at the beginning of the show; her eyes looked empty - but my, my, my, she pulled it out for her performance - I agree with whoever said that it was his favorite performance of the whole show - ever. I told hubby I knew she'd either really do it or really not - I'm glad she pulled it off.

I did say also that I want her on MY side - can you imagine THAT voice singing prophetically? WOW.

Anyway, on to the rest of the show.

Everyone did their best. It was no-holds-barred, the way the show should always be, and the way the INXS incarnation was (IMHO) more often than this one. I even liked Lukas's performance, and I don't like him - and Storm did a good job with that Evanescence song. Hard to pick a bottom-three.

I would say that it should be Storm, Lukas, and Toby, and I would rather see Storm leave - she's only had two performances that didn't totally get on my nerves, and they were last night's and the time she sang the Bowie song - and that style is not going to fit in with Supernova. I don't like Lukas or Toby at all, but they would fit in better with SN than Storm.

I thought Ryan looked like a superstar last night. He might should go solo, seriously. He has a very personal style and an awesome voice. He might fit in with SN, but I think it might hinder him.

I'm not into Magni. I think he's kind of boring, that's just me.

I really want Dilana to win this. Or to get totally radically turned around spiritually and in her relationship with Mum, and end up touring with Kim Clement. LOL!

I'd love to see either Toby or Ryan win this. Magni's too good to be saddled with a one-hit wonder band like Supernova. He'll have more success on his own.

As a Talking Heads fan I hated Dilanna's version of Psycho Killer but she did well.

Yeap. I was shocked. He did too much on stage last night I think. His voice was weak and Gilby seemed really unimpressed. He was kinda ungracious with them about it too. Magni was the only one not in the bottom three at any point last night. I really can't stand Storm. They are also repeating alot of songs. And again we are gonna make it through a season of rock star with no Led Zeppelin songs? They must not allow them to use them.

Toby was great last night and Storm did quite well...I've really taken a dislike to Lukas (and I can't really place the reason)...I still like Dilana a lot, but she's lost ground the last 2 weeks...and Magni...just doesn't seem....right. He's too "smooth", not enough rough edges or something. He's a great singer but just doesn't quite seem to fit...

I loved Storm's performance - it was really, really good - and I could see the girls in the crowd trying to learn the hook so they could sing it with her..... I generally can't stand Storm, but this was her night, IMHO.....

I also generally can't stand Toby, but he did pretty well.

Magni - meh. Obviously he didn't understand the angst behind "Back in the USSR". If he'd sung it more like he sang his original, it would've been better.

Dilana - she's got my heart - just like Jordiss in the other one.... there is something so sweet about her -and again, I want her on MY side...... I think she should win, but I bet Toby will.

Spoiler: tonight's Encore, B3 and boot

Encore = Toby (I hope it's his original, his cover sucked), Magni gets to play with SN tonight, I'm looking forward to that. Your B3 are: Lukas (plays his original song), Dilana (sings I Want You To Want Me by Cheap Trick) and Storm (sings Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd). Your boot tonight is STORM. I was really hoping Dilana would finally get turfed, she's losing her edge, much like Jordis last year at this time.

There it is. Don't hate me, I'm only the messenger.

So next week is the end. I am starting to think Toby may actually get this. He is really comming into his own.

I don't get why they are ending so early. Why are they picking from the final four instead of a final two? Last year it was down to JD and Marty, this year it'll be between Dilana, Toby, Magni, and Lukas. Not sure I understand that...

Of those, I'd really like Dilana to win it, but I think she hurt herself too much in the past couple of weeks. I wouldn't mind Toby winning because I really like him a lot for some reason, more than I did at the beginning of the season.

But in the end, I think it will come down to Magni or Lukas, with Lukas taking it home. He's just more their style. Bummer for me, because he's the last person I'd want to see win.

So was anyone surprised? At all?

I sure wasn't. Especially when I saw the promo for Survivor during the first commercial break that, weirdly, was interspersed with clips of Lukas singing Head Spin. Gee, that didn't give anything away at all...

Ya'll hear "the band" and "this band" repeated incessantly last night? Not once did the name Supernova get mentioned out loud. That's because they lost the lawsuit filed against them by another band named Supernova, and they have to change their name. That ought to be great for record and ticket sales.

Anti-climactic ending, to me. Last year, my favorite (Marty Casey) came in second, this year my favorite (Dilana) came in second. I hope she has more success than Marty appears to have had. Gilby's offer to her should help in that regard.
