Human body is really nothing but a biological machine,
True
so it is not hard to imagine other artificial machines that will be capable of the same things as humans, e.g. love.
Theoretically,
but in order to create the feeling of love between the two species is against the very purpose of the biological machine (us), the robots would have to look in every way the same, emit pheromones, have impeccable skills in body language, be able to uphold a conversation, and even when all of this is achieved, they still would be shunned by the religious majority, because they would not be seen as having a "soul"
Then there is a good chance that at some point in the future some will consider you a close-minded chauvinist!
We shall see,
But seriously giving rights to a machine, I mean I love technology, and will participate fully in its advancement (accepted to do nanotech in uni), but still the idea sounds abominable,
there is no logical reason to give them even the same rights as animals, like if a robot kills an animal in self defense, it should be put down, its model production stopped, and engineers hired to go over the code
An animal, should have some basic rights, and in a perfect society, we may even go on a vegetarian diet, but a machine having rights?
Seriously, MemeBuster, how do you personally feel about this issue?
Do you think there are any reasons, we should give sufficiently advanced ai rights?
