I've seen both Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson in concert. Zombie is less outwardly evil then Marilyn manson. I liked Rob Zombie's show better he put on a better performance. Marilyn manson, at his show, even before i was a christian (i was actually pretty adimately against christianity), made me cringe inside at how blasphemous he was against the holy spirit....which mind you is an unforgivable sin. Mathew 12:31-32
Both these men glorify the manson murders. Seriously how can you be a christian and support men who glorify one of the most evil things that has ever happened in this country?? that isn't like a horror movie. it isn't funny. it is very serious and it really happened. i pray that any christains who have not yet be delivered from these mens' music that the will be soon! in the name of Jesus. amen.

Nonetheless, I refuse to further persue any of his music until I get the opinions of fellow christians, I know some of you will be far to one end, and some to the other.

I would suggest to ask the Lord and not humans . A Christian has a relationship with the Lord so they can ask Him directly without needed a majority opinion on a matter . If you have any doubt , discontinue , listen to the Lord , and wait for His instruction on the matter .

Yep, good advice. However, we are supposed to warn and encourage one another daily lest we be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. You can't bypass the input of the members of the Body whom He uses to speak, warn, exhort, encourage because His Voice is in His Body.

This reminded me of a story a pastor told me when he had a teenager ask him if he was going to Hell because he had gone to a Marilyn Manson concert. The quick witted (and funny) pastor replied........"nope, you'll only be visiting....."

If you aren't for Christ aren't you kind of already against Him? Why even subject yourself to that? Even if He doesn't outright preach satanism, I know that his lyrics are not edifying. All things are lawful but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful, but not all things edify. You are free as a Christian to listen to that music, but why in the world would you want to? There are so many good Christian bands out there.

Rob Zombie makes great music, so did White Zombie. No, they're not really satanists, but their lyrics are still devil-honoring trash. If I could get past them, I'd be listening to it 24/7.

Check out P.K. Mitchell, Bride, Audio Adrenaline, Whitecross and Bloodgood. All are excellent Christian Rock bands.

Only if you like pop and hair metal. I actually do like Bride.

Even now, as a born-again Christian for 4 years, I still love AC/DC - especially Hell's Bells. So I stay as far away from it as I can. The band even admits that they feel that some spirits take over when they begin to play. I would suggest to Josh that if he even feels the need to ask about the music, that the Holy Spirit is telling him "hands off". I've found that it's best to obey!

very important to remember...
ya know, I'll fully admit to liking some of the stone's songs back in the day~including 'sympathy for the devil' (of all things!!! )& 'paint it black' ~but in all honesty, I needed to (and still do need to) re-evaluate my music choices. Even though I now hate the 'sftd' song, I sometimes will listen to groups/bands that are just, quite frankly, questionable or trashy. And, I'm not a trashy person. I'm a child of God.
The thing for me, though is dancing..I LOVE to dance & I love hip-hop/dance music; however, when that music's lyrics are less-than-appropriate for a person to dance to or when the type of dancing being referred to in a song, for example is ungodly, then obviously, there is a huge problem there. But, I realize the problem & have forgone alllll the clubbing I used to do in the past. Indeed, our walk is a process & not an overnight 'awakening.' The Spirit of Truth leads us to discover certain areas in our lives which need improvement & the Spirit will lead us in the right direction...IF we trouble ourselves to hear the voice.
Challenging us also is the question of whether or not to promote a certain artist & their message~esp. if a cd's lyrical content completely contradicts what we, ourselves, believe/know to be true; or if that artist's lyrics poke fun at our Lord & Savior? There was this particular cd I wanted to buy not so long ago..awesome dance songs but I had to seriously consider: do I want to promote this person & the beyond-questionable lifestyle this person is leading? (no, it wasn't michael jackson!!! ) Needless to say, I never bought it...and don't plan on ever buying it.
As far as Rob Zombie being satanic...far as I can tell (& w/ as much ~or as little~as I know about him), he is a big fan of old, cheesy horror movies~big into shock & grotesque imagery. Shock value, in regard to cd/lyrical choices? 'course it's there; I mean, 'La Sexorcisto-Devil Music vol. 1' ?? come on now....Marilyn Manson? shock rocker~he knows it...the guy down the street knows it, everyone knows it...in my opinion, it's quite simply garbage; like someone else here said, at some point ya gotta put away childish things...

and as far as I can tell, all that 'music' is pretty much childish
