We had to go to the immigration thing in the middle of the city (1 1/2 hours to get there by train), and the doctor who did our basic med. examination looked so much like Aragorn it's not funny! The eyes, mouth, sideburn-thingos, mustache, nose, everything! I just sat there laughing at my sister with my eyes because she noticed it too.

Arannte watched as her good friend, Rea, crept through the trees towards her. Rann's vantage point was excellent, having a good view of both the valley on either side, and the slope below her ledge, plus having the advantage of only being approachable from one place, a narrow path well-situated underneath her bow that wouldn't have been noticed except by the indian that Rea was or the tracker, Lanz.
Rea pulled up for a moment, sitting Gwanthi as she let her eyes flicker over the precipice on either side of the little dirt path, only three feet wide and exposed enough that a well-situated archer could pick her off easily.
Knowing that the well-situated archer was Rann, she didn't worry and crossed quickly, doubling back on a rock, evidenced only by a few scars from Gwanthi's steel shoes on the hard stone, almost impossible to follow.
Arannte smiled as Rea rode up, a pot of coffee boiling on a small, smokeless fire. "Coffee's almost ready, and Lanz will be here in a minute," she said, gesturing over the valley, where Lanz was crossing the same narrow point.
Rea accepted the coffee readily and sipped it gingerly.
Lanz appeared through the trees, and stopped at the rock, where he cast about for a moment before following Rea's route. He approached and 'hallood' camp before he dropped from the saddle.
"Rea's right, you can track a snake across a flat rock!" Rann grinned, shoving him a cup of coffee. "Drink some, we'll stay the night and then be off." Her face shadowed for a moment. "Where's Rebecca?"
"I think she was headed for France," Lanz said, a little more up-to-date than Rea, who exchanged glances with Arannte.
"So be it, I must fight my own fight . . . . "
Rea's eyes suddenly shone with an idea. "Let's go exploring!"
"Exploring?"
"South . . . south of Europe."
"That would be interesting, to say the least," Arannte said softly. "There's somewhere I've heard of, a land of spices and desert, of pyramids and palm trees."
"Egypt? What a fantastic idea! We'd be the first explorers to go there with more than just rumors."
"Let's prepare when we awake tomorrow. I'll take first watch." She emptied the dregs of her coffee and stood up slowly.
Lanz and Rea talked for some time, then fell asleep with the comforting silhouette of Rann hovoring on the edge of camp, prepared for any that might come, Rebecca, Robin, Edward or any of his men, who would no doubt follow them.
