lol.

Even paused momentarily before accepting Robin's offer. "We do need to get out of here." he said, shooting the Chyska's an inscrutible look. "But how do we know we can trust you?"
"Take my word for it, Even." Rebecca said hotly. "Let's go."
"Hold on a minute!" exclaimed Even. "Who gave you permission to lead this expedition?"
Arannte felt Nightmare was uptight. "For now, let's just take her advice. I don't want to be around when the Chyska decide we're a nuisance."
"You wouldn't mind." someone sneered. "You're one of them."
Arannte closed her eyes and kept her back straight. "Enough." She said quietly, and Rebecca shot the culprit a dirty look.
She could feel the tingle along her spine that she was yet one step farther away from being a part of this group, a normal human.
Even Nyanie looked nervous, she kept fiddling with her hands.
Arannte felt a coldness creep in front of the sun, and yet, when she looked up, the sun was shining brightly. Within minutes, she was shivering horribly and was rubbing herself to keep warm.
Nyanie was feeling the same things, and the faeries to some extent.
She realized that Elrea was waging all-out war against those that possessed magic, so she concentrated on thawing the icy sensations that were playing all over her arms and face, and she shut her eyes, causing a thick cloud of mosquitos to converge on Elrea, who was by then far away.

wow, sounds cool! :)
----

Elrea concentrated so deeply that it took her awhile to notice the thick cloud of mosquitos surrounding her. Annoyed, merely annoyed, she waved a hand, risking a momentary lapse in what she was doing, the mosquitos fell dead one by one onto the rocky ground. Turning her gaze outward, she could sense them, and without delay, she reached out her mind and called.
----

Arannte snapped her eyes open, and Nyanie's hands loosened on her sleeve as the chill dissipated. The faeries were all dancing around in anxiety, though the cold was gone.
"What is it?" Rylan said in alarm, and Rebecca took her arm from Arannte's shoulder, seeing that her shivering has stopped.
"The danger hasn't past," Nyanie said solmnly, watching Arannte.
A feeling of dread worse than before swept through her, "She's coming," Arannte whispered.
----

The griffin heeded her call, though she did not keep a garrison of dark creatures out of mere distaste, she couldn't help admitting that it was useful once awhile to have some handy. Gripping the fur tightly, she tapped her flying mount on the side, and the griffin turned a 45 degree, heading south. Narrowing her eye, Elrea took out a handful of stones. The stones were the size of a pebble, yet with these, she could easily kill a score of Trolls.
----

"Move!" Arannte shouted, Elrea was moving closer. Her presence had sharpened.
Kicking the side of her mount, Rebecca rode after Robin. Nudging Even from the side, Rylan followed with the rest of his group, and Nyanie motioned Rylan to move on as she moved her horse to the side of Arannte.
"Come on, maybe we can dodge this," Nyanie reasoned.
"She's coming straight at me, she can sense me, just as i can sense her." Arannte said, "It'll be safer if i led her away from the group."
Nyanie frowned, the group has already gone after Robin, if they didn't make a decision now, they'll be left behind without anyone knowing in all the confusion.

"Maybe Robin knows a way." Nyanie said quietly, yet her voice was not at all calm, "What if she changed her mind and went after the others?"

Okay, here we go!!!

Robin wound around trees, not saying a word to comfort the group. He occasionally turrned, to be extra careful that no one was following them. Finally, the tired group ended up in a small village with about ten medium sized huts on the ground and over twenty smaller huts in the trees that were connected by a wood walk-way. Rebecca breathed a sigh of releif. She dismounted, and tied Mystic up. Soon she was joined by Robin.
"You have the choice of a room on the ground, or one in the trees." he said. Rebecca smiled slightly and said, "I would preffer one in the trees." Robin smiled and nodded. "Right up there." he said, pointing to one of the empty tree-huts. Rebecca smiled her thanks, and climbed the ladder leading to her hut. Once inside, she set the few things she had on the floor, and flopped her aching body on the bed and fell asleep.

Roxanne ran around her maid and ran widly down the stairs, and into the ballroom. She suddenly stopped short. Her father was talking to the lead guard. The guard was holding a boy by the shirt. Roxanne got close enough to find out that the boy had benn caught steeling. Roxanne examened the boy. He was dressed in fancy clothes, to fancy for him to be poor. He never interupted the guard, or even tried to convince the King that he hadn't stole anything. His head was held high, as if he was brought up to be confident in himself. He also looked educated. Roxanne came to the conclusion that the boy was a rich man's son, and that he was innocent.
Later that night Roxanne snuck into the prison chambers, and unlocked the boy's cell. He looked startled to see her.
"Shhh. Follow me." she whispered. He hesitated for a moment, but then did follow her. Soon he was outside, and well beyond the palace walls.
"Thank you." he said. "Why did you do that?" he asked.
"Well, you didn't look or act like a theif. And it's wrong to kill an innocent person." Roxanne replied.
"Robin of Locksley thanks you, your Highness." he said.
"My name is Roxanne, not 'your Highness.' And please don't bow. I don't want to atract attention. You'd betetr go before you get caught."
"Rebecca?"

"Rebecca?"
Rebecca jolted awake.
"It's just me." Arannte said.
Rebecca rubbed her eyes.
"I brought you dinner. Everyone else already ate, and I didn't want to wake you."
"Oh, thank you Rann."
"You're welcome."
As Rebecca ate, Arannte and Rebecca talked.

As the next few day's went by, Rebecca spent more time with Robin. He taught her how to use a bow, and even taught her how to make one. One night, while everyone was eating, Robin and Rebecca talked up in a small sitting place up in a tree over looking the banquet and the dancing.
"Robin, I'm amazed. At age twelve you get on a boat headed for Jerusalem, and get put into slavery for ten years, only to escape and come back to England; finding your father dead you do this in two years. I mean you went from the son of a rich man, to finding contentment in the salt of the earth."
Robin smiled slightly and looked down at his hands.
"Even in France they know of the famous Robin Hood."
Looking back up at her he said, "You're pretty famous yourself. You've got guards from a completely different country, coming over here to look for you."
Rebecca laughed.
"Anyways, who say's I'm content?" Robin asked smiling.
"I have made plans for the future." He said.
"A grander scheme than this?" Rebecca laughed.
"No a much simpler one. A family, home, love."
Rebecca smiled and shook her head.
"Men speak conveniently of love when it serves heir purpose. And when it doesn"t it is a burden to them, Robin Hood. Prince of Thieves. Is he capable of love?"
Robin smiled slightly and looked down at his hands. Then he glanced back up at Rebecca, a slight smile etched on his face. Rebecca looked at him, smiled and then looked away. Looking back at him, she asked "What?"
Robin said nothing. He simply kept staring.
"Is there something in my teeth?" she asked franticly.
"No, I was simply, admiring your beauty. You've grown since age eight, and not just your height. Your beauty has as well." Robin said.
"Thank you, Robin." Rebecca said, looking down at her hands.
"It's been good seeing you again, Rebecca."
"It's been good to be seen." Rebecca said, looking up at Robin.
"Thanks to you I'm alive. I was never able to tell you how grateful I am to you for helping me that night. Even though you were only eight, you did what you thought was right. You were able to judge what was sensible and what was foolish. Then at age thirteen, you gave up all that you had for a small village that meant nothing to you. You helped save the lives of innocent people. My Father always told me that 'Nobility isn't a birthright. It's defined by ones actions.' Even though you were only eight, you saved my life. Then again at thirteen, you saved many other lives. Even now, I hear stories of you helping others. Nobility doesn't seem to be one of your weak points."
There was a short silence before Robin asked, "What made you help me that night?"
Rebecca looked at Robin and said, "Well you didn't look poor for one thing. Your clothes weren't tattered, dirty or torn like other peasants. Your clothes were fancy and clean, like that of a rich man's son. Plus your speech was very well. You talked right, and you didn't have that poor accent. And you walked as if you were proud. You didn't slouch, or walk with a limp. You looked and acted rich. When they accused you of being a thief, immediately I knew other wise. I mean a rich person has no need to steal. And, it's wrong to let an innocent person be executed."
Robin nodded slightly.
"You talk of my nobility, but yet you think not of yourself. The things you've done with these people, it's nobility too. You've given these people, food, money, hope and pride. But the thing you gave them that counts the most, is dreams. You gave them dreams. They now believe that there is something better for them, because of you. If it weren't for you, over half of these men, women and children would be dead. That is nobility."
Rebecca said, looking Robin in the eyes. His eyes were full of kindness. Their gaze locked. Rebecca tried to look away, but she couldn't. Suddenly Rebecca felt a wave of emotion run over her, and something sparked inside of her. She felt a feeling she'd never felt before. She couldn't really describe it. It was a tingly feeling. She felt a rush of adrenaline shoot through her body, and hardly noticed Robin moving closer. Rebecca was brought back to reality, when she felt his lips touch hers. It was a quick but meaningful kiss.
Robin pulled away slowly. He looked at Rebecca who was smiling. Her eyes danced, as the stars reflected their light off of them. Suddenly, Rebecca identified the mysterious feeling. She couldn't believe it. She was in love.

I did it!!!!!!! :clap: :clap: :clap:

lol, beautiful, but the bit with Arannte...I'll make it work.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Arannte fought to keep her calm, and her hands shook so much when she carried the tray up to Rebecca that the silverwear jangled unnervingly.
She felt impulses coming to her from Rebecca, and she could read the thoughts that were flying out, almost in her face, daring someone to notice. She's in love. she thought, and managed a tight smile. She's in love, and you'll never be. Arannte snatched a linen serviette from a table and dashed up the stairs to the treehut, her eyes burning behind the lids as unwanted tears welled up.
She slipped silently into Rebecca's room, and could see the lights dappling her face, as she smiled serenely in her sleep.
Arannte couldn't help but chuckle when Arannte murmured garbled things in her sleep. About some dashing suiter in green, no doubt...fashioned after the infamous Robin of Locksley.
On impulse, she touched a strand of hair that lay on the silken pillow, and Rebecca awoke, her face touched with the light streaming through the window.
"It's just me." Arannte said, then pushed the tray onto the straw-filled mattress. "You missed dinner, and I didn't want to wake you up, so...."
An uneasy silence filled the room as she let her words trail off, like a strand of pearls dropped carelessly on the wooden floor, shattering apart and flying in all directions, with Arannte scrambling to retrieve her thoughts. She swollowed and looked out the window, a lump in her throat. It would be so hard if she lost her dearest friend.
I am waiting.... came the voice in her head, so sharp she drew in a quick breath, and looked at Rebecca, who was staring at her. "What is it?"
"Nothing." She replied quickly, and the subject was dropped. She felt like they were on seperate sides of a wave crest--able to see each other but the rift between them widening all the time. "Look," She started, and Rebecca smiled suddenly.
"What do you think of Robin?"
"Robin?" she demanded. "Is he--?"
Rebecca's face was immediately shadowed, her words carefully chosen. "Oh...just wondering...he seems very nice to give us these places to sleep."
Arannte didn't mention that she'd spent the night playing hide-and-seek with Elrea, in the woods. She could see straight through her beautiful but slightly niave friend. "You like him." She said, and turned away, denying the sudden spring of resentment in her heart.
Rebecca laughed out loud. "You're jealous. You think I'll pay more attention to him, than you."
Arannte shot her a look. "Hardly."
Immediately a look of pain and confusion swam across Rebecca's face. "Besides, I hardly know him."
Arannte sighed and felt the strain returning. "I'd better go."
"Where?"
"To find Elrea."
"But--"
"I must."
"Now?"
Arannte turned away. "I'm glad you at least give me some of your time, Your Majesty, Princess Roxanne."
Rebecca winced, but held her silence.
Arannte turned and leaned against the windowsill.
Rebecca got her final look at Arannte before the changing of the winds, and before she vanished from her knowledge, for a time.
Her long, light brown hair was braided neatly and wound around her head. Her pointed ears and delicate face gave her a pixi-ish appearance, and her slender frame implied frailty whereas her muscled arms and large hands belied hidden power. Her mahogony eyes were as splendid as satin, but could be as cold as the night.
She was of conflicting contrasts, outside and in. Her smile was old as she looked at her friend, then with one lithe, catlike movement, she vanished. Completely.
Ok, I felt like having 2 chars.
~~~~~~~~
The wind was cool against Schy's brow as he sat his horse, his eyes alert, even the hour just before dawn, the darkest moment of the day.
And yet, even in the darkness there was beauty--the stars frosted the nighttime sky, cast there in ages past as if they were jewels flung into space by some forgotten being. Their tiny silver pin-pricks were dazzlingly bright in this hour, without the sunlight to contend.
His mount shifted, and his attention returned to Doom, the silver-shod horse that gleamed amongst the starlight, his pale coat shimmering under the dark pines, his smouldering eyes betraying his anxiety as he tossed his head impatiently.
Schy's head swung around, and he could sense that it was almost time to join the others. But not yet--the test was not over.
He had not returned with one of the Joscet blades, and he knew the closest was within the slumbering village.
Then, the air brushed his face and the scent of spring flowers from the slope below wafted to him, and he knew that someone had crushed the petals of a Crynth.
He smiled in the darkness and waited calmly for the joscet to creep up the path into the darkness.
But then, the wind changed, and the sound of it tossing the branches of the trees distracted him and covered his quarry's noises.
Disgusted, he moved away and sought to find her trail.
He felt a hoof print in the soil and he glanced upwards towards the trees. The hunter had now become the hunted, and this irked Schy as the top tracker of the Chyska village.
Gritting his teeth, he faded back amid the dark shadows, his horse shining amidst the firs.
"We had the same idea, Chyska warrior." Came Arannte's even tones.
Schy spun on his heel and waited for her to attack, but she was gone, a shaft from her bow impedded in a tree near his head, according to custom. The sound of her string twanging remained in his ears as he searched carefully for sign of her presence.
"You are well trained, girl." He said, surprised.
"I can see you are impressed." Came the voice, and the hiss of another arrow. He dodged it easily and loosed one of his own into the darkness, but he saw when he turned that all three arrows had vanished.
"Hand to hand." He called, and instantly the elusive warrior stood there, her blade gleaming in the chill dawn light.
For ten minutes they fought, pursuing each other through the trees.
Then, he struck at her mid-calf, and blood dripped from a cut.
She smiled grimly and swung, the tip of her dagger touching his throat, and he had the idea she'd been playing all along.
"I'm better with a lance, javalin or spear." He whispered, his eyes unnaturally bright. "Take my life, you earned it."
"Nay." Arannte replied, sheathing the crooked dagger and swung up on Nightmare. "It'd be better if you lived."
For a long moment, they stared at each other, and then she vanished again.
Schy pressed a knife to his own throat. "It'd be better if I died. I did not stand the trial."
Some force knocked the knife from his hand. "No, go down to Robin's village and join them. Now."
He grinned into the darkness. "All right, sly one."
He felt a lightness of heart as he rode into the village, the quick flash and glint of metal behind his back evidenced the silent meeting of Elrea and Arannte.

The griffin flew across the open sky, and wind rushed past quickly. Hair streaming behind her, Elrea put her mind to finding her targets. It didn't take long to finish the task, and she guided her mount down to the forest. Just as they were about a few feet above ground, the presence in her mind vanished.

Elrea widened her eyes in surprise, and she reined the griffin in intantly. Emitting a loud squeak, the mighty bird stopped its descent and hovered above the canopy, the beating motions of its wings producing a gust forceful enough to bend a few tree branches and trunks along the way. Scanning the forest, Elrea's eyes turned thoughtful.

*They can't hide forever, even one using magic will get tired soon after* Not at all discouraged, she silently saluted her enemy.
----

Nyanie was glad that Arannte decided to wait later, so the two of them hurried to catch up with the others. The place Robin showed them was a small village, and for a wonder, there were huts built among the trees! She quickly accepted the offer for a living space in one of those huts and Rylan smiled as Ellome also did the same, clear excitement showing on his face.

"I have no need of fancy huts," Hyine grumbled.
Rylan threw an arm around Hyine's shoulder, he understood his fear of height. "Come on, my friend, let's get some rest," Rylan said, and as they passed the others, he called out, "Care to join us?"
Loakin looked up from his bow, "Sure, Even?"

I'm back for a little bit.

Rebecca awoke the next morning, her body was still slightly aching from the two hard battles she and the group had faced. The new feelings she had, were now erupting from within. Despite her aching bones, Rebecca was up and about in the earlmorning, when the sun was just beginning to show it's bright smile through the trees. One by one the rest of the group awoke. Rbecca was still fasinated by this small village, and it's beauty. The people who lived there, were lovely was well. They shared their homes and their food. And even some weapons and some horses for the groups long journey ahead of them.
Even had not decided when they were leaving, or if he had he chose to keep it annonamous. A young woman, around Rebecca's age, gave Rebecca a dress to replace her old, stained one. Rebecca tried to convince the woman to keep it, but the dress had become to small, and the woman thought that it would fit Rebecca better. Rebecca took the dress thankfuly. After she'd changed, she looked around around for Arannte. Not seeing her, Rebecca mounted Mystic and took of through the wood, silenlty.
Around ten minutes later, Rebecca turrned around and decided to go back. Suddenly, Rebecca heard a noise behind her. She turrned and saw nothing. It was mostlikely the wind. she thought. Mystic walked for about a yard, before stopping, her ears up and alert. When Rebecca tried to get her to go, Mystic stood still. Rebecca dismounted took Mystics reigns and led her through the forest. When they were within sight of the village, Rebecca turrned towards a noise that sounded at her right. Robin appeared. Rebecca sighed.
"It's just you." she said.
"You don't scare that easily do you?" Robin joked. Rebecca laughed. As they walkedback to the vilage, Robin and Rebecca talked.

Arannte crouched amid the bushes, her heart beating fast as she watched Elrea, the griffin hovoring, searching.
"We meet again." Arannte's voice came lilting on the wind, softly, and Elrea's head jerked around.
The dark hood hid her assailant's face, and her eyes were shadowed. This worried Elrea, because she could not see her mood or mindset.
Instantly, a chasm split before the girl, who stumbled back. Elrea laughed, hard and long, as she stared down at her opponant. Arannte's voice was annoyed. "No magic--hand to hand."
This cooled Elrea's heart, and she calmed. "What guarantee that I won't attack?"
The smile under the hood was very sweet. "If you do...your risk."
Elrea laughed again. The weakling! So confident! She leapt from her mount and dropped to the ground on all fours, and she took a leap before she even took a breath.
Arannte was ready, this time, and she stepped aside.
Elrea's leap sped her past Arannte's head, and she slid along the ground, cursing the futility as she rose from the ground and faced Arannte, who had not yet even taken up a defensive position.
Elrea had the advantage of height, strength and cunning, yet the girl who stood opposite was hardly less so, and she was more agile and quick, a magnificent sprinter and wrestler, not to mention an acrobat.
Elrea stepped in close, and tapped Arannte's shoulder. Instantly they were locked in combat--Elrea reaching for the other, giving her a quick upper hook to the body as Arannte twisted her arm painfully behind her back in a quick maneuvre.
Elrea bit her lip and kicked Arannte savagely in the side, sending her sprawling in the dust. She took the brief moment to her advantage and whipped out her dagger, pouncing on the prone figure.
Arannte could taste the blood in her mouth, and could feel every cut and bruise on her body. She also felt the wind moving in her direction, and she ducked and rolled aside, her arm shooting out to trip Elrea.
Elrea managed to move aside, but Arannte's hand knocked her dagger sprawling. They both dove for it and scrabbled in the dirt, but Arannte snatched it first and snapped it, throwing the pieces away.
Elrea took the respite and wiped blood off of her forehead while she did a somersault, landing a stunning blow to Arannte's mid-back.
She grinned when she heard the sharp crack, and she gave a follow up to the head, only to find Arannte was still up and running, leaving a trail of blood behind her.
Elrea ran to the griffin, but found it slain by an arrow from Arannte's bow, and she barely kept the curses within her.
She spun and drew her sword in one movement, and she faced the unseen menace. "Come out now!" She shouted hoarsely, and Arannte surprised even herself by landing a few feet in front of her with one gigantic leap. "On guard!" She cried, and they were at it, hammer and tongs.
Elrea swung, Arannte dodged and parried, returning with a thrust to the shoulder that only grazed but drew blood. Elrea knew they were both weakening and kicked with her legs. When Arannte dodged, she moved in and swung a tight disc of light at the exposed neck, and laughed when it spurted blood, but frowned when it healed instantly and was replaced with but a scar.
She looked into the eyes under the hood and could see that Arannte was finally getting a little careless. She thrust quickly and spun the blade, striking Arannte on the temple with the solid handle.
She dropped like a stone, and Elrea sat down, suddenly faint, until she, too, fell into darkness.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Schy entered camp later that morning, and the first person he met was Durin, and they were instantly wary of each other according to the relation of the Dwarves to the Wizards, but they were silent until they reached Robin and Rebecca, who were spending more and more time together until it was all to clear to all but themselves that they were infatuated.
Schy stood there so silent that they were exchanging words and almost kisses before they noticed him.
Immediately Rebecca colored and shot to her feet, Robin doing likewise.
"Who are you?" He demanded, trying to hide his irritation.
Schy was silent for a moment. "One of the Chyska, come to you...to join the mission for the Grail."
Rebecca's eyes were suspicious. "Why would you?"
"Partially because I have no place to go, having already failed to get Arannte man-friend's sword."
Rebecca gasped. "Arannte? Where is she?"
Schy's eyes registered confusion. "What do you mean? Isn't she here? I met her out of town, before sunrise." He didn't add that he'd fought her, as well.
Rebecca and Robin exchanged glances. "Outside of town?" He asked.
Schy nodded and shrugged, and Robin gestured towards one of the treehouses. "You'll meet Even there, and you may talk this over with him."
After Schy and Durin had turned away, he looked at Rebecca. "Man-friend?"
She nodded absently. "She has been called many things."
"Such as...?"
"Bright Sword, Death Blade, Death Song, Longbow, Dark Rider, Warrior of the South, Blackbane."
"And you?"
Her voice cracked. "Not yet...I...I don't know what I'll do without her. She...she was my friend...before I left...."
Robin understood, and held her hand firmly. "Don't worry, Rebecca. I love you, and I'll always be here for you. Of that I am certain."
She looked away. "But--what of Arannte?"
"Let her go, she chose her path."
Tears filled Rebecca's eyes as they filled Arannte's, not six miles away, as she rose from the ground and stepped away from the rock where Elrea had stood a moment before.
She mounted and rode north, and west....
