RM3 - Radioman 3rd Class?

I was just wondering if RM3 denoted Radioman 3rd? I saw this on my grandfathers bio-sheet thingy that my mom printed out from this site or other. Under rank it had RM3 and I know my grandfather was a Radio Man during the war just not sure if that is what it means and what it means.

I apologize, I'm normally alot more intelligent than this but I just took a quick glance on the way out.

Yes - that is what it means - Radioman was his rate and he was a third class petty officer. Not sure about the Navy - but they did away with this one in the CG a few years ago.

Yes, they've also done away with it in the Navy, they're now Information Tech's (IT's), I think. The same in the CG, Behe's young 'un?

In the sub force the RM rate is also done away with. Now there all Electronics Technicians (ET).
