I had the elders stop by my house one day and dismissed them, I didn't know what they wanted to be honest, I told them I was a Chrisitian and I appreciated what they were doing and goodbye. It wasn't until I started asking other people questions of who Mormons are that I found out how dumb I sounded...who cares.

Since then God has allowed me to work for a boss who is LDS and we often speak about religion. I pray for him (he was saved as a baptist then converted for marriage). Through discussion with him I have learned that the one thing the LDS hold higher than anything is tithes. Their tithes are tracked and scrutinized; even to the point where the tithes are depoisted into central account in Utah and then portions are pulled off the top then redistrubuted back to the individual wards, although this may not be entirely uncommon I can not describe the scrutinty . All LDS are hearing the same sermon across the world, each week, there is no freedom, it is all carefully scheduled from the HQ. I also undertand that when they do a church plant the construction is managed from HQ with on site reps and they use the same contractors over and over, there is no congregation building a building, only HQ.

All that aside, it is polythesism, if that isn't enough to say no thanks what else do you need?

Can I make a point?

The Mormons DO NOT USE THE BIBLE!!!

Pick up one of the 'accepted' Mormon translations and read it. It is nowehere close to being accurate or faithful to the original Scriptures. When I brought this up to a couple of Mormons who stopped by my apartment they told me that "Jospeh Smith received a new translation of that verse/passage."

Hogwash!

Mormons use the KJV and say, with unfailing monotony, that it is reliable "in so far as it is correctly translated."

The Mormons also have another, modern translation that they use that is nowhere close to correct...

I couldn't have said it better. I love the Mormons because they are so nice and their LIFESTYLE is something to strive for. But that is where it ends, their lifestyle. I feel badly for them because most of them just want to be good Christians and follow the Christ they were informed about, unfortunetly they were informed about the wrong one. And since they advertise as being Christian, many people searching and still in their journey towards Christ are lead to them. All I can say is Thank Goodness for the Internet.

My family is not religious AT ALL but I always have been and last year I began looking to find with section of Christianity and I was so very drawn to Mormonism because of their lifestyle. Sounded perfect, until I started coming across websites that pointed out all of the many differences. like we all become Gods once we die. and their temple ceremonies.

I just hope and pray that those who are really just trying to follow the Jesus Christ of the Bible figure out the truth. The best we can do is just simply pray for these people. :groupray:
