  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

John, you and Sara are very wise to wait for at least a year before a serious commitment. It does take a full season to see the "full garden" as you described. There is that honeymoon phase of all relationships that last about from 1 to 3 months, then the rose-colored glasses start to come off around 4 tp 6 months. When the glasses come off, that's when the "true" person appears and you will see each other's true colors, so to speak. Then being able to work through the differences that are finally seen ;) and resolving conflict is the tricky phase that either will make or break a relationship.

I do wish both of you the best of luck. Being that both of you have been through a divorce, it will hopefully add a little more caution this second time around. As long as God is at the center of your relationship, the relationship has a great chance of blooming every year!

May both of you grow together in Christ. God bless you both.

heartnsoul, actually, if you ask me (haha you didn't, but I'm going to tell you anyway), sometimes the rose colored phase lasts a whole lot longer than that! Just look around this forum at some of the younger folk ;)

JAKG, I didn't realize you have only been dating for 4 months, somehow I missed that, but I have to agree with Blue... pre engagement is called dating. To me you're either committed, or you're not, and you just stated you're not.... so like....

I don't know.

Heh... JOhn only read the last half of this post, and congratulations. YOu are taking the whole process in a way the whole world should... Goodness knows how many less broken families there would be if others took this approach.

And many "dating" books I've read suggest waiting 2 years between dating and marriage, to see this cycle twice. My fiance has seen mine about 4 times now, and he would need to because of the way i get in winter, and highs and lows due to everything that i go through in a year... I also need to see his work schedules and how he copes. It's a great way to go into it all... Well done!
