Romans 10:
5 For Moses writes about the righteousness which is of the law,
“The man who does those things shall live by them.”
6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way,
“Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ”
(that is, to bring Christ down from above)
7 or, “ ‘Who will descend into the abyss?’ ”
(that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).
8 But what does it say? “The word is near you,
in your mouth and in your heart”
(that is, the word of faith which we preach):

Deuteronomy 30:
11 For this commandment which I command you today
is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off.
12 It is not in heaven, that you should say,
‘Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us,
that we may hear it and do it?’
13 Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say,
‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us,
that we may hear it and do it?
14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth
and in your heart, that you may do it.

Romans 9:
30 What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not
pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness,
even the righteousness of faith;
31 but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness,
has not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were,
by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone.
33 As it is written:
Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense,
And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.

Romans 10:
3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness,
and seeking to establish their own righteousness,
have not submitted to the righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness
to everyone who believes.

The righteousness of the Law is not made void by faith,
we are rightly established in the Law. Romans 3:31

Romans 8:
3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh,
God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh,
on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,
4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us
who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

What are we to find in our study of the Law? Righteousness and Judgment

Psalm 106:3 Blessed are they that keep judgment,
and he that does righteousness at all times.

Psalm 89:14 Righteousness and judgment are the habitation of thy throne:
mercy and truth shall go before thy face.

The Law is our schoolmaster for therein lies instruction in righteousness.

2 Timothy 3:
6 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,
for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Discipleship without the Word of God results in the Way becoming wayward.

Deuteronomy 30:

is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off.
12 It is not in heaven, that you should say,

13 Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say,

that we may hear it and do it?
14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth
and in your heart, that you may do it.
Romans 10:

14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?

And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?

And how shall they hear without a preacher?

15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:

“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach

the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!”

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says,

“Lord, who has believed our report?”

17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Before Abram could be declared righteous by believing God,

he first had "to hearken and do"=shemah=believing.

Galatians 3:

2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit

by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now

being made perfect by the flesh?

4 Have you suffered so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?

5 Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you,

does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?—

6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

The Righteousness by faith requires hearing and obeying.

Romans 1:

5 Through Him we have received grace and apostleship

for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name,

6 among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;

Benediction

Romans 16:

25 Now to Him who is able to establish you according to my gospel

and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of

the mystery kept secret since the world began

26 but now made manifest, and by the prophetic Scriptures

made known to all nations, according to the commandment of

the everlasting God, for obedience to the faith—

27 to God, alone wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.

There is a lawless interpretation of salvation

by Grace through faith that does not demand obedience.

Do not listen to them.

Discipleship without the Word of God results in the Way becoming wayward.
The only way for someone to attain a character trait is by faith while what it means for them to attain a character trait is for them to become a doer of that character trait. For example, there is no amount of courageous works that someone is requires to have done first in order to earn becoming courageous as the result, but rather the only way for someone to become courageous is through faith apart from those works, but it would be contradictory for someone to become courageous while not becoming a doer of courageous works, and the same is true for righteousness and every other character. Doing righteous works in obedience to God's law has nothing to do with trying to earn our righteousness as the result, but rather God graciously teaching us to be a doer of righteous works is the way that He is giving us His gift of righteousness.

In Psalms 119:29-30, he wanted to put false ways far from him, for God to be gracious to him by teaching him to obey His law, and he chose the way of faith by setting it before him, so this has always been the one and only way of salvation by grace through faith. In Titus 2:11-13, our salvation is described as being trained by grace to be doers of what is godly, righteous, and good, and to renounce doing a doer of what is unrighteous, so doing those works has nothing to do with trying to earn our salvation from God, but rather God graciously teaching us to be doers of those works is the way that He is giving us His gift of salvation.

The Law is our schoolmaster for therein lies instruction in righteousness.
indeed, while in school we are under a schoolmaster. So are we still in school?

Galations 3:24-25
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

the question that remains is has that faith come?
