Right relationship with God query!

Hi , I've just recently read a thread about the right relationship with God and how to achieve it to be genuinely honest I've always had a problem with this whole idea of a 'right' relationship with God and rules of how to go about it to achieve it. We have different personalities as christians in the body of Christ how I worship might not be appropriate for my church but when i go to another church its the best way or how I dress may be considered bad in some denoms and in others how you dress doesn't matter ( but decent of course) of course there are the basics that just come naturally through transformation but why should there be rules on how to have a proper relationship with God maybe how I relate with Him He gets it even though you as a brother or sister won't get it and it draws me closer to God! Aren't this rules basically what's driving many to create new churches and end up confused in christianity because they don't know if God accepts them as they are because the rules of christianity state its not proper to be this way or that way? I just don't get it honestly where this proper relationship comes from why we impose it on each other while God wants us to just be us! And let Him transform us by the renewal of spirit and mind that's how ive always seen it this rules are what's confusing many of us christians young and old in many ways and I don't know maybe someone can explain to me how this whole thing works

I'm still trying to find the right way myself. I have fully rejected any sort of Charismatic-influenced thought in how to have a relationship with Christ. That's the 'easy way out' and you'll end up in the hands of a false Christ and I know that's not right.

Because from.my personal experience all this rules have really pushed many children of God into turmoil I don't know if I've explained my query well Im not so good at that..hope you undsrstood it though

My only rules are no New Age methods and only sticking to Scripture... I tend to vent my feelings to God through poetry as prayer.

That's very true you got what I meant! Thanks sovereign..you know esp since I talk to people from believers to non believers cause I do evangelism a lot and also from my own experience before I trully found my answer from God to let Him do Him its just bothered me honestly and I've heard the one thing is christianity doesn't let me be me or accept me for me you know its like a struggle to have the relationship n image religion has placed on our shoulders

The Charismatic movement is a nice way of saying 'False Christ demonic influenced church.'

That's the best! I also just go to God as me! Broken n unashamed! No picture perfect method to come to Him and I talk cry get mad just do me! N He listens but in my church they domt do the whole praise n worship speak in tongues thing BT I said if it happens to me at home or wherever I'll let loose you know I stopped closing God in a box of rules n expactations and my approach esp in my ministry hasn't been liked at all given the u need to say it like this ypu need to do this like this how ypu dress should be this etc n I almost quit at one point but had to remind myself why God put me there the young n old find me more approachable and not stiff how many wouldn't have known Christ because of approach..

Charismatic tobe honest I find it quiet fake hypocritical false all in one I mean its sad even to watch ...kind of annoys but Christ don't worry about that we all come from somewhere and that's how we see God work and move! If such weren't the case we would not be be able to see grace at work and mercy at work

Exactly. Don't put God in a box but don't attribute God to what is not of God, e.g. modern prophets. God is willing to work in majestic ways but He is not in the carousel of laughter that is in the Pentecostal churches, but is in the still small voice, metaphorically speaking. God's peace is a quietness of mind, yet not a shutting off of the mind like mystics believe it to be. It's knowing that He is with you always.
