What presents itself will either prove our belief right or wrong, what's right becomes fact & what wrong cancels out what we believed. So far, you're just talking about natural belief process. How then do people become deceived? Through this very process you are describing. Then the word of God comes to us by the preaching of the gospel, and our false belief systems are interrupted by the truth conveyed, and we discover that our belief-learning was wrong. It is the Holy Spirit that gives us new beliefs, which we must re-learn through scripture.

I agree to some extent, as if we believe something that has no evidence for, we don't know if the faith is based on reality, and it may be mere theory at that point. I think that the testing of our faith is for verifying it is reality based. However, Jesus said to Thomas "blessed are those who do not see, and yet believe." It seems there has to be openness and at least a beginning to trust the God we don't yet know.

At birth our nervous system is drawn towards reality, as reality is what reinforces the forming of neuron connections. The rare baby born with a faulty neurological structure, which is drawn to the pebble rather than the breast, does not last long. Under normal conditions, the infants' neural structure tests reality and adheres to that with which it can fit into a relationship that meets the needs of the infants structure (warmth, food, etc).

This is not a true statement. The ceberial cortex in the brain is designed to make choices or decisions. This is just the way the brain works. I remember when we bought our home the agent took us to look at homes that he knew we would not be interested in buying. He did this so that we could make comparisons and so we could make the choice or decision for the house we wanted to buy.

All of this begins in the Garden of Eden with a male and a female, man and women, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the serpent. So we have a beginning, we have the generations and we have a serpent to deal with. God wants us to choose life or death, blessing or curse, sickness or health, poverty or prosperity. He will not make that choice for us. Each and every individual has to make that choice for themselves.

We are all born without the knowledge of what's true & false, we believe our parents knowledge, and what the world says. But we can't remain in belief, for that is ignorance. We hold onto our beliefs until the evidence of what's true presents itself. From here our belief's are either verified or destroyed.
