What was the point of Samson deceiving his mom and dad by making them unclean?

9So he scooped some honey into his hands and ate it as he went along. When he returned to his father and mother, he gave some to them and they ate it. But he did not tell them that he had taken the honey from the lion’s carcass.

A few verses later, he tells his wife that he has not even told his parents where the honey came from, so why should he tell her.

I guess Samson wasn't insane and realized he wasn't dirty. Maybe there was a tradition with the Bible of how to properly understand it and maybe he knew about it and so could no longer take what was inferior as something serious. What need does a person have to try to fulfill the law if they are already fulfilling it spiritually in some measure? But since he's a prophet everything that was written contains Divine wisdom and expresses some kind of Truth.

It was wicked and makes me question the final destination of the first Nazarite sent by angelic delivery. I didn’t envy him on first reading nor do I envy him now as seen at this dilemma of his life. The fact that God had left him was the first clue brought out in the riddle, and when God his strength returned it was to bring down Dagon ...... but frankly, God proved He could do that without help at the end of the age of judges. Having the Son is having the Father and they cannot be divided neither by hook nor by crook. Stage right. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. It’s not a turning to God that is portrayed but the opposite. In fact after the judges came Samuel, God’s next attempt at Nazarite perfection that would never be complete until the Nazarene arrived. It’s just hindsight from there. Hindsight is 2020 yet are we going blind? Fft

It's been awhile since I read about Samson. He was a very human human being. I think that his death was beautiful and good. No one deserves to have their eyes gouged out. One of the most beautiful things I can relate to is how in his darkest moment, at his final end he turns to God. It reminds me of one of the thieves that was crucified along with Jesus whom Jesus said truly this day you shall be in Paradise.

He died along with his enemies because we are our own enemies. He was imperfect but surely God loved him.

Mhe just the fact that God did it without mankind processed shows reasonable doubt that the gouged eyes were in vain.

That chapter describes the relationship that is very common with man and God. This translation of the verse reminded me of paul, I wonder if he referenced his thorn by this verse?

If indeed he was referencing this with his thorn, that messenger of Satan. The New Testament has become for the church what Israel was like to God due to the lack of their single-mindedness. in the second chapter of Judges it seems to show that only very few were near to God. Maybe Samson was about equivalent to your popular mainstream Christian teacher.

He was a child of God no doubt from royal birth, and the father of the child did ask for special instructions on raising him. Did God provide that care? It seems He provided more a means of escape for the parents.
Judges 13:7-8
but he said to me, ‘You shall conceive and bear a son. So then drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, for the boy shall be a nazirite to God from birth to the day of his death.’”
Then Manoah entreated the Lord, and said, “O Lord, I pray, let the man of God whom you sent come to us again and teach us what we are to do concerning the boy who will be born.”

Judges 13:19 sounds a lot like Job’s prayer but it’s the angel making praise for friends and family. Hmn, @brinny would know.....

No the Lord acted very responsibley

Judges 13:25 The spirit of the Lord began to stir him in Mahaneh-dan,

as He does with Samuel, but both mother and son came thru the Nazrite vow of

Numbers 6:2-5
Speak to the Israelites and say to them: When either men or women make a special vow, the vow of a nazirite, to separate themselves to the Lord,
they shall separate themselves from wine and strong drink; they shall drink no wine vinegar or other vinegar, and shall not drink any grape juice or eat grapes, fresh or dried. 4 All their days as nazirites they shall eat nothing that is produced by the grapevine, not even the seeds or the skins.

5 All the days of their nazirite vow no razor shall come upon the head; until the time is completed for which they separate themselves to the Lord, they shall be holy; they shall let the locks of the head grow long.​

but Samuel’s dedication along with Hannah’s prayer brought it to the place of being anointed as the Anointed One. No longer one of ritual but rather an awareness of the change of priesthood and priesthood to kingship with surrounding circumstances to make reality in real life.

Then Manoah entreated the Lord, and said, “O Lord, I pray, let the man of God whom you sent come to us again and teach us what we are to do concerning the boy who will be born.”​

It would seem that the parental intent was there but silence from the offspring .... Samson was with his mom and dad on the trek to meet the Philistine woman where he did not tell them he killed the lion so did he lie by omission? Is that considered a lie? ... omission? .... I’m having trouble placing blame on silence but is important because even Samson wasn’t informed of the Lord’s intention of revenge and using him, Samson, to accomplish it. hmm guess I have to read further to see how the parents prayer was answered, if at all. But ... another day, evil’s sufficiency is overloaded today.

As he makes his way through that land he comes across those things (vineyard) that stir up anger (lion) in us and darken our understanding, just like wine (the product of grapevines) intoxicates the mind. Aided by the Lord he puts this spiritual beast to death and continues his journey without boasting about it in his heart and mind (this is the meaning of not telling his parents about it). Meekness, which is by definition the death of anger, attracts then the bees of wisdom, which in turn fill the mind with the honey of spiritual undestanding (Psalms 25:9). This is the honey that nourishes all our spiritual members and which our Samson shares with his family (soul).

At least this is my feeble attempt to extract some spiritual honey from the story, given the measure of understanding allotted to me by the Lord.

The dad of Samson has a disputable history as to which tribe, Judite or Danite, he belonged to. Misdemeanour of disturbing the peace by above definition.

That’s how it is with those who mourn the gifts of Grace they lost because of past failings, as if relatives, and pull the weeds of evil habits that grow around their graves, I mean the recesses of their heart. The bees of wisdom come and make their abode in the eye of their soul (mind) and nourished by the sweat of their spiritual labors, they fill it with the honey of spiritual knowledge.
