  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

i know this should probably go in "pregancy," but i thought the people who already had been through it would be more apt to answer this question:

how soon did you start having rib pain in your pregnancy? i had heard/thought that it was something that happened in the third trimester as the baby started getting bigger and preparing for the birth, with the feet up towards your ribs. i'm just 25 weeks, though. and at the last ultrasound i had, they had commented that she would be a small baby, so i don't think that i should be feeling this now.

i have my month check-up tomorrow morning and i'll ask her about it then, but i just wondered if any of you experienced it relatively early.

yesterday, it was a pretty sharp pain that started when i sat up in bed in the morning and continued on throughout the day. if i sat down, it didn't hurt, but when i stood up, it felt like the weight of the baby was pulling something, and it really hurt. as the day progressed, the pain wasn't as sharp, but got sore to the touch. it's not as bad today, but it's still tender.

i've read about as the baby gets bigger, how it's not uncommon for a rib to be moved out of place as your ribcage expands trying to make room for everything, and that in order to fix it, you have to have it popped back into place. but you would think that if that was the case, that the pain would have continued at its initial intensity throughout the day and not lessened or gotten sore on the outside. so i'm wondering if the baby is already kicking up under my ribs, which i find odd b/c i'm not even into my third trimester yet.

I had lots of rib pain with my babies. Don't really remember how soon it started, though. I think those that carry small tend to have more rib pain because the baby is tucked in under the ribs rather than hanging out in front. It could also be a muscle that is getting stretched.

Is it on your right side? In the ribs and around into your back? It sounds very similar to the syptoms I had with gall stones. They developed during my first pregnancy. It started off similar to your description, but it got REALLY bad before I finally figured out what it was.

I'd definitely ask your doctor about the possibility of gall stones. It might not be, but better to be safe than sorry.

i thought about that, but i've already had my gall bladder removed. my appendix, too. so unless it's somehow related to the baby, there isn't a whole lot else in there to cause problems. ;)
