He gathers
the poor
the weary
the forlorn
the heartbroken
the forgotten
the outcasts
the hurting

He's never forgotten
that He was
poor
rejected of men
despised
forsaken
cast out
hated

In gathering the least of these
we gather Him
for He told us
as you do unto the least of these
you do unto me.

In gathering the least of these
we gather ourselves
as we extend grace to others
we learn to love ourselves

In forgiving others
we forgive ourselves
for we hate others
because we hate ourselves

In the gentlest of moments
He speaks to us
shining light
in those places
we do not speak of.

Somewhere
deep inside
a death-like stillness
stirs

A soul smiles
and comes to life
embracing the One
Who set it free

We come in quietness
and so so gently
we gather
the poor
the weary
the forlorn
the heartbroken
the forgotten
the outcasts
the hurting

Together
we celebrate
His birth
