It was short, but sweet, now I don't have to cry

it's about time
I got off track
but now I'm back
I laughed so hard
it was awkward
if you think that's dumb
here's another one....

I went to the store
cause we need potatoes
and when I got there
i also bought tomatoes
They had ham on sale
and I did not fail
I bought six or seven
I thought I was in heaven
Then it was time to check out
the receipt began to spout
the sky was getting warm
and then it started to storm
so we ran to the car
and drove farther than far
we got home and put it up
it was late but we had sup
then it was time for bed
and I needed to rest my head

My oh my how, you can rhyme
I hope you'll return from time to time
I really enjoyed reading your stuff
It took a long time, it was quite enough

It's still fun to rhyme, but some of you will never know
If you don't give it a try, you wont know how much fun it can be

I've been writing poetry for years
I've always wanted to send them in for publishing
but have too many fears
so it's all in wishing
though I did get one published a year or so ago
in a book I'm sure no one has
but it's okay though
this poem is done atlast.
