  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am Rh negative and will get a shot of Rhogam at my next dr. visit in a few weeks. A friend of mine who is also Rh negative and has had rhogam before has offered to donate blood before my delivery in case the baby or I need it. I'm just wondering if this is really necessacery. Anybody know?

I'm going to talk to my doctor about it at my next visit but I was just curious. I think it is really nice that she would offer to do that for me whether needed or not.

Hmmm-- I just read that having a friend or relative donate blood doesnt pose any less of a threat of infection than blood from the general blood supply-- its not likely that you would even need it.

Thought of banking your own blood?

The only problem with both those options is its not often a. deemed necessary and b. not many hospitals will let you do either unless there is a big risk to you or baby.

If it makes you feel better having it, talk to your dr/midwife/hospital/birthing center and see if they do it.

:)
