Recently the national transport company, RATB, has introduced the "Active card" (a RFID transport card) and, starting next month, there will be no more monthly subscripton cards made (practically forcing people to use it - as buying tickets daily is 1.4 x more expensive than a subscription).

Now, I know RFID is not necesarily the mark of the beast (it would have to be INSIDE my right arm or forhead to be so), but it is clearly a step in that direction, and using it would make me feel as if I "let the devil in a little further".

I'm usualy enthusiastic about technology, but having a RFID card in my wallet 16 h/day doesn't feel right.

What should I do from a Christian standpoint (my current subscription expires on 17 April 2007)?

PS: Please don't answer with "you're nuts", "get a life", etc. I'm into computers (studying Computer Science @ college so I kind of know the tech facts involved.) I need a Christian point of view and hopefully some advice.

The RFID chip is just a timesaver, in and of itself. No problem for a Christian in credit cards, bus passes, etc. We use them everyday on the tollways around here.

Do not confuse the RFID chip with the sign of the beast. That will involve a concious decision to accept the teachings and beliefs of the Anti-Christ. You will clearly know the difference.

I wouldn't exactly call it timesaving having to practicaly rub the card on the reader 5-6 times until the code gets read right. seesh. Because of that, people aren't exactly pleased with it.

I mean: you get on the bus, it says "Validate Card". You place it in front of the receiver. Nothing. You give it a good rub. "Please revalidate Card." And again... And again... (you get the ideea). Finally, the damn receiver decides to read the acual code "Pleasant Trip" appears on screen.Very pleasant indeed. Most ppl give up after the first try, and if a control would come, they would probably get fined EVEN THOUGH they have a VALID card.

Actually, I believe Revelations warned us not to be deceived into taking it, if I'm not mistaken. I don't think it will necessarily be a "no brainer".
