An Arminian quoted to me Rev 22:119 KJV as proof against the doctrine of perseverance.
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
To be honest, I never had a fully formulated view of the "Book of Life" so my answer essentially was, "God may be writing the book of life as we fulfill the events that are preordained to occur in it, but God as already chosen His elect before the foundation of the world was set (Eph 1:4) and we know that God works all things according to the counsel of His will (Eph 1:11) so when God says that He will lose no one He has given to Christ (John 6:39) that means absolutely no one! So, if God can threaten to remove someone from the book of life, this would mean that God would have known their name would not be added before the foundation of the world."
However, the NASB reads this way:
if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.
What say you?
