• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Nope, this isn't about Jesus lol.

I'm talking about resurrected threads. Why do I sometimes see a thread suddenly show up from a year ago or more? Do you guys just browse page after page of old threads, and post in one just for the heck of it? Too many times I'll start reading the thread and have no clue it's so old, and I'm about to respond to something and suddenly I see it was posted in March of 2008 or something.

I've never done that, so I'm just curious.

When I first started posting here, I had tonnnnssss of free time.. and if nobody was responding to the threads on the first few pages, I would just keep reading old threads and responding to those. I'd usually get bored 3 or 4 pages back, but maybe that's the case?

Topics on this board (and plenty of others) have pretty much run their course. If there's an interesting topic I click on, I'll resurrect it because sometimes, seeing the same-old, same-old is, well, really boring. I like to spice things up a bit. ;)

PLUS, I get to see names I no longer see anymore. *sigh*

Oh, and here is how I do it: I just click on the last numbered page and skim from there. I don't look at every thread (just as I don't look at every single thread on the current board).

To be fair (and honest), I think many people here have too much time on their hands though. ^_^

This morning, I was in another section of the message board and came upon a user whose face seemed very familiar. However, I could not place it. I therefore skimmed through a few of their posts in order to refresh my recollection and among the first on the list was the "stalking profiles" thread. I clicked on it, as I had never seen it before. I decided to respond despite its antiquity.

Therefore no, it was not due to having too much time on my hands. I shall add that I am seldom bored, especially as I consider my world rather fascinating even if no one else does. :p

I was kinda bummed to get on here (after a long while) and see that some really old threads have been deleted. About 6 or 7 months ago I got on here (for the first time in about a year or two) and I could click on my CP and see all the posts I had made. Well, some went back to when my birth family had stopped going to church and we moved, and I made the decision to go find a church and rededicate my life to God. It was really cool looking back on things I had written and compare them to now.

What a testimony when I could read old posts where I was depressed and somewhat suicidal to my thoughts on going back to church, to now, having been adopted by my pastor and serving in the ministry and going to Bible college. A lot changes in just a few years!

I think it's due to individual forum traditions. On one forum which I've been using for ages, the custom was that, if you have a question, you should do a search through all the past threads to see if anyone else has asked that question. If you decide to make a new thread, people will complain that the topic's already come up, and you should have just posted in the old one.

I guess it's just a different point of view. Now that I've got used to CF, I don't mind it either! :)

because I've been very bored, want to be humorous, and sometimes there are good threads/topics that havent been used in a while. I went back as far as the forums would go one time just so i could resurrect like the oldest worthwhile thread i possibly could. It was fun.
