Dear friends, hope all of you had a restful and blessed Easter weekend :). Normally, I don’t post in such quick succession and hope that you’re not bored to death. I’m certainly glad to be back with all of you though:) . Society eulogizes and praises stable, well-heeled and anchored people. Vagrants and gypsies are despised as the dregs and untouchables of society. Although, I’m not condoning and/or advocating such behavior (Matthew 10:11), the restless and nomadic spirit is something worth investigating. Do you feel that restlessness and wanderlust in your spirit? Do you wake up every morning wondering what it’d be like to break free of all your shackles and float among the stars? Do you feel that you were meant for something bigger and better (I mean better than the Presidency or Premiership of any country)? While you’re among friends and family do you still feel out of place and that you belong someplace else? Are you home but not quite at home? Do you feel trapped by and in a system? Are you happy but not joyful? Does your spirit still crave adventure? Are you afraid of losing a good life or eager to depart to be with Christ? If you're the latter, then please let me welcome you to the club of believers looking for a city which is built by the Hands of God (2 Corinthians 5:1).

One of the finest examples of a spiritual nomad in the Old Testament was the Prophet Abraham. Please turn with me to Hebrews 11:8-10. Abraham was called by God Almighty to leave his native land and go to a place that God was yet to reveal. Abraham demonstrated a faith and resolve that even Moses failed to display. When God spoke to Moses from the burning bush not only had Moses asked the Lord gazillion questions (Exodus 3:1-15), but he had to be rebuked by the Lord for his lack of faith and laziness (Exodus 4:13-14). In contrast, Abraham obeyed God’s call and went not knowing where he was supposed to go (Genesis 11:8). The difference is that Moses had a staid and saturated spirit while Abraham had a pioneering spirit. It was Abraham’s obedience that led to the birth of the Jewish state and subsequently the kingdom of God (Genesis 22:18). Had Abraham stayed in “Ur of the Chaldean's” (which some say was birthplace of the ancient Babylon), he would have remained a great pagan scholar and died in his sins. However, Abram’s (and later Abraham’s) spirit echoed with eternity, for he had a tryst with God (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Such people are never satisfied with their countries or citizenship's (Hebrews 11:37-39). Although, they weren’t anarchists or betrayed their country (Mark 12:17, 1 Timothy 2:2) they knew that their home and true loyalties lied elsewhere and God was not ashamed to be called their God (Hebrews 11:13-16). A perfect example of a true Israelite whose heart was always elsewhere is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. Here was a man who was always among people but always distant (Mark 1:36-38). He seldom tarried because people liked him nor did He shy away from rejection and death (Mark 14, 15). People (including His own family) who were with Him always felt something strange about Him. He addressed His mother as “woman” at the wedding feast in Cana (John 2:4), rebuked His parents at the temple in Jerusalem (Luke 4:29), and enjoyed solitude (Luke 5:16). He spoke about heavenly things when His disciples couldn’t even understand earthly things (John 3:12). He was in the midst of parties and feasts but was always preoccupied by other-worldly things (Luke 7:36-50). He was surrounded by natural beauty but always thought of something infinitely lovelier (Matthew 24:1-12, 1 Corinthians 2:9). He was an incorruptible Spirit who used money (Matthew 17:24-27) but was never in love with it (Matthew 21:12).

Do you feel the same way saints? If not we should. All we see, do and possess will burn in God’s wrath (2 Peter 3:10-12). Only the redeemed souls will be saved from fire and destruction. So friends join me in being discontented souls that are never truly happy here. We are meant for something bigger and better. Wake up each morning to answer the beckoning call of eternity. Amen.

Dear friends, I’m quite certain that all of you are sanctified, Holy Ghost baptized saints. Should there be any among you that don’t know the Lord yet, I pray that the Lord of the Universe will set you free from sin and disobedience into His glorious light and freedom. Amen.

Finally friends, my intention in this writing was only to illustrate some concepts and not incriminate anybody in anyway. I apologize if some or all of this content offended you in anyway, as my intention was quite the opposite

PS: Thanks for taking the time to read my scribble saints. If you find a lot of similarities between this writing and those of Rev. Oswald Chambers, that’s because the late Rev. Chambers is my mentor. Dear friends, please forgive me if I don’t respond to your mails and debates. I’m a full time college professor and haven’t the time to debate (that and I’m not very good at it.) “…for where your treasure is there your heart will be as well (Matthew 6:21)”. Amen.
