• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

This is my testimony regarding how I recently came to quit smoking. I hope and pray that it will minister to those of you who are struggling with this destructive addiction. NEVER trust in your own power, trust in his power!

For a long time I was a heavy smoker. I smoked a whole pack of Newport 100's every single day, almost without fail. Even when I was broke, I had to smoke, I would scrounge around until I could find enough change and cans/bottles to afford either a pack or enough loosies (single cigs) to keep me sane. I felt that I would never be able to quit, I felt that I was just too addicted.

Then, one night, I took this to God in prayer. I confessed that I was powerless over this addiction, and that I would never be able to quit on my own. I acknowledged that he alone had the power to set me free, and I asked him, if it be in his will, to help me get past this addiction. I gave up on my own strength and trusted in him to deliver me.

Guess what happened? That very night I stopped smoking. The next day I didn't smoke a single cigarette! All the cravings were gone, there was no headache, no irritability, no withdrawal, nothing! I was absolutely free from the bondage! I myself never thought it could happen overnight like that, but praise God he set me free! To this day I am not smoking at all, nor do I have any temptation to do so.

Never doubt the power of God to completely transform your life. It is not in his will that you be in bondage to tobacco. Come to him with a humble heart and a desire to be transformed, and trust in his will and power to accomplish a miracle in your life. Our God is real! He really does answer prayer! He really does transform lives! BELIEVE IN HIM AND HIS POWER!!
