a couple days ago my dog, named Oreo, of 14 years old passed away. She was such a blessing and brought a lot of joy to our family, I like to hope that God has our pets waiting for us up in heaven. I haven't been too emotional about it until today when in the mail the veterinarian we went to through all of Oreo's life sent us a card! Ohh my Oreo, she was so goofy.

 A great big 'ol hug for you.

It hurts really bad to lose our dear furry family members. I have a 9 year old pekingese...she is in very good health, but I shudder at the day I might lose her. She is a very special little lady.

May God give you comfort through your time of grievance.

Draper, we decided to get another dog too when oreo turned 11. You know what? It gave her so much life! I think she would have passed away much more quickly if we didn't get her a friend to play with. Since I live in a cold cold city, she has to be inside for the winters because she gets cold (lack of fur). It perked her up! Good luck with the puppy. They add a lot of warmth to a home.

I'm really sorry about your loss. Pets are members of the family.

I posted this under another thread, but I thought I'd share it here as well :)

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

((HUGZ)) I'm so sorry! In the past year my childhood cat and my fiances dog died; and it was so hard! So I definatly understand what you are going through!

Rainbow Bridge (posted just above) is such a wonderful verse! I have it printed on a peice of rainbow paper with a photo of Splash (my cat) and framed in our kitchen!

All my dogs are members of my family. I know that God loves the animals he created with such care. Each has their own personality. There are 8 dog friends waiting for me already on the other side, and certainly there will be happy barks and joyeous leaps when I arrive! That is what I firmly believe.

If you want to, go to in-memory-of-pets and post a tribute and/or story about Oreo. I don't have enough posts to link to the site or I would link to it for you. I did that when Ginger was 'put to sleep' due to old age at 17 years of age. Some people put pictures of their pets their. It's a very nice site. I visit every so often just to see what changes have been made.
