Republican Obstructionism Is The Real Scandal That’s Plaguing Washington

There are a variety of adjectives to describe Republicans in Congress since Americans elected an African American man to lead the Executive Department, and setting aside sheer racial animus, some apt descriptors are total incompetence, inability to perform, and blatant ineptitude that easily inform the state of the Republican Party. They have, though, been very proficient at obstructing the President from their minority position and it is a sure sign they have nothing but contempt for the American people, the government, and particularly President Obama as they have done absolutely nothing for over four years except prevent the government from operating for the people. Their obstructionism won them the distinction of the worst, least effective Congress in the nation’s history, and instead of reeling from the harsh assessment, they have seized on the phony scandals over the past weeks to focus attention away from the fact that as public servants and the people’s representatives, they are absolutely worthless and have no intention of governing. Instead, they have, and will continue to, spend every waking moment obstructing the government and continue their crusade to discredit President Obama by playing up false scandals. The real scandal plaguing Washington is Republican obstructionism and their apparent glee at having phony scandals to cover the fact they lack any agenda to govern absent tax cuts for the rich and defaming the African American in the Oval Office.

Obama is as much if not more to blame with his partisan tactics such as Obamacare. It is his job to lead the nation, and not just pander to his own party. The buck stops with the POTUS.

I don't believe you can lay the blame with either party exclusively. Unfortunately, both parties have shown they are willing to put party politics above the good of the country. Unfortunately, it likely won't stop until the American people hold both parties accountable for their behavior. And trying to claim one side is mostly at fault and your side is just responding is little different than a bank robber trying to justify his behavior because there are other people robbing banks.

Well it was only a matter of time before someone started a thread to blame Republicans... and for "obstructionism" of all things.

Here's how Democrats define an "obstructionist:"

"When you don't vote for us... you're probably being an obstructionist."
"When you don't lie down and let us walk all over you... you're probably being an obstructionist."
"When you don't surrender your values to ours... you're probably being an obstructionist."
"When you don't surrender your logic to ours... you're probably being an obstructionist."
"When you don't agree with us... you're probably being an obstructionist." (and a racist)
"When you don't surrender your will to ours... you're probably being an obstructionist."
"When you don't surrender your money to us, voluntarily, eagerly, gleefully... you're probably being an obstructionist."
"When you don't surrender what you want to what we want... you're probably being an obstructionist."
"When you don't agree our virtues are superior to yours... you're probably being an obstructionist."
"When you don't swallow our lies... you're probably being an obstructionist."
"When you don't believe our propaganda... you're probably being an obstructionist."
"When you think we're nannies, or more accurate, tyrants... you're probably being an obstructionist."
.
.
...there are more, literally thousands more, but perhaps the best (and most succinct) one is

"When you don't do as we say... you're probably being an obstructionist."

Biggest load of progressive liberal soil enhancer I've read in a long time.

Take it home and spread it on your strawberry beds. You'll get a bumper crop.

The inquisitional belief that there must exist no opposition to one's values, one's agenda, one's goals, that everyone must accept them without dispute, without argument, without...

political debate - in the arena of congress, where our chosen representatives are there to secure the best interests of those who freely elected them...

is tyranny at is most raw, most viral. And this OP is proof just how insidious tyranny can become.

The hypocrisy of tyranny is absolutely astounding - and how anyone can swallow it, hook, line, and sinker without gagging is even more so.

Obstructing evil is what we expect of Heroes. Super villain has a plot and superman, Spider-Man, batman, step in and obstruct it. How pathetic a super villain must Obama be, if a herd of loyal Americans merely elected to office can stop his nefarious plans? Criminy, all it takes is some pasty white polo shirt type guys holding to their oathes of office? I bet none of them are even super powered mutants! All they have is like morals, traditional ideals, loyalty. . . Obama should be able to run right over them. This is ridiculous. The op is right that the real scandal is Obama can't beat this tiny band of loyal Americans, even though they have no super powers and their party has been dying for more than a decade. Obama should be able to curb stomp them, but he can't because he's so pathetic. What a weak super villain, no wonder only a small crew of republicans showed up to stop him! He wasn't worth anybody "Chuck Norris" enough to wear tights.

There is no doubt Republicans hate this President, but their deliberate obstruction of government informs that their animus extends far beyond the African American in the White House.
The Republican ineptitude and obstruction is approaching anti-American criminality, and their obstruction of the President’s nominees, efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and time spent on phony scandals informs they hate this country, the people, and the Constitutional mandate for governance they swore to uphold as part of the jobs whether they are in the minority or not.
The real scandal the American people have been, and will continue, suffering over the past four and a half years and well into the foreseeable future is that Republicans lack any coherent agenda that does not include tax cuts for the rich and deregulating their corporate sponsors.
Coupled with their animus toward President Obama and grasping at fabricated scandals, they have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they truly hate America every bit as much as they hate this President and if their ineptitude is not criminal, then it is certainly treasonous.

I believe the above statement should be posted again.

You forgot ones. When Republicans pass a bill in the House and we block it in the Senate, Republicans are obstructionists

Really, cause it is full of holes
There is no doubt Republicans hate this President, but their deliberate obstruction of government informs that their animus extends far beyond the African American in the White House
Em, the party with close ties to the KKK is the democrats, they are even still showcasing KKK anti-gun (in non-kkk hands) legislation. . . Republicans have historically worked against slavery, color bars, Jim Crow laws, etc. . . but don't let the historical facts or the fact that a mulatto is in office stop you from trying to bring African Americans into this.

The Republican ineptitude and obstruction is approaching anti-American criminality
Shouldn't Eric Holder be pressing charges then? Just because they aren't supporting the vision of America that involves us becoming a third world cesspool, doesn't mean they are anti-American. People who think would actually say the opposite.

they have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they truly hate America every bit as much as they hate this President and if their ineptitude is not criminal, then it is certainly treasonous.
In order to bve treasonous they'd have to be working against the best interest of the country, giving aid to foreign enemies . . . . you know, like giving fighter planes to the Muslim brotherhood or ignoring the call when an embassy was under attack. . . that kind of thing. Have Republicans openly displayed disrespect for our armed service people? In what way? Have Republicans. . . . (here's where I'd recite the list and it might be preceeeded with words that sound startlingly like "But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty . . . " but would come around to our duty to replace the Republicans with a living and breathing loyalist party, rather than that rather dying nobly thing they have going right now. It'd be great if they'd just stop twitching, so people would stop voting for them. . .. but when a belly up goldfish is beating your "hero" maybe painting them treasonous and like big and bad isn't the way to make your guy look . .. what is the word? Not virile, but. . . oh there has got to be a better way to say "not like a spoiled pansy, lacking resolve AND any measure of strength" what would be the word for that? I don't know. Most anybody of merit I know, finding themselves so utterly devoid of honor and strength would have the presence of mind to disembowel themselves . . . but your guy can go on about how the party that didn't even bother to run a serious candidate in the last two presidential elections is beating him up and making him sad. Okay. . . .

This is why having a divided government is so great (relatively speaking). They spend so much time bickering and trying to screw the other side over that it makes it more difficult for them to take more of our freedom away.

I didn't read any farther than the first line. Get off the racist issue - it is weak and overused - Obama has caused his own problems not the Republicans - he has caused more division in this nation than any anti crowd has ever done.

Wolseley - best description of a load of u know what I've ever read. Great description.

Not just divided ... it needs to be restricted and powers limited.

Limited government is what the constitution was/is about.

It's important to note that things in government calmed once Republicans took the House thus dividing the government between Democrats and Republicans
