• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What exactly is a reprobate mind? Someone told me because I had bipolar that I had a reprobate mind. Needless to say, I no longer speak to them. What they said made no sense and frankly it was a bit rude. Is there anything demonic about bipolar disorder and do all sinners who are not saved have reprobate minds?

Reprobate means not able to judge for themself right or wrong. It's for all sinners. But by God's grace, the power of the cross and the resurrection is stronger than the fact that a sinner has a reprobate mind.

Bipolar (I have this too) is purely a physiological illness of the brain where the front and temporal lobes, where judgment, reason, all cognitive behaviors take place, doesn't work properly because of the neurotransmitter action in these areas of the brain. The emotions are in another part, and are overworked, thus you get the person trying to base their experiences purely on emotion, and you get manic/depressive symptoms.

Even though the bipolar affects judgment from the front and temporal parts of the brain, this is not the same as reprobate mind. Reprobate mind is a condition of the heart of man rather than of the everyday use of the brain for judgment making.
