Desperate? It seems that this has taken a step toward the surreal. Why should one become desperate over being reported? I'm sorry, but I simply don't understand all the melodrama associated with this issue. When the reports were fully open, I got harrassed and sent nasty PMs all the time. It certainly didn't send me into a state of desperation.Doesn't matter. Folk who've become that desperate can't really be punished--there's nothing you can do that will hurt them further.

YAY to semi-private reports and YAY to the harassment rule.
Don't want to get banned? DON'T HARASS THE STAFF. It's a fairly easy rule.
Will the reporter still be anonymous to the reported one viewing the thread?
As for anyone who C&Ps a report somewhere else, that ought to result in an automatic ban. For how long, I don't know...
Define "harass", please.
I've seen an awful lot of people screeching for automatic bans, especially when it comes to challenging Staff. While that may be your opinion, and you are certainly entitled to it, it speaks volumes about your character (not to mention your reasons for volunteering.)
The reported member will be allowed to read and respond in the report thread. However, the report thread will remain private, and should not be divulged to other than the RT, in accordance with the site wide rules.
It wasn't a veiled anything, and I won't be retracting it. You said what you said, and I drew what I think are reasonable conclusions based on that.
FWIW, I don't have a poor opinion of Staff. I have a poor opinion of poor Staff.
That's bull and you know it. Reasonable? Based on WHAT? You made an assumption about my character and about my reasons for becoming a mod. And given how you've posted in this thread, it's no stretch to see that your assumptions are negative. You don't know me, you don't have any clue as to why I volunteered to become staff but I will tell you this, even though I don't owe you the time of day: I did not volunteer to be on staff to abuse any powers like you suggest. I hope I never have to ban someone, and I've been to bat for several people who have been close to banning. I've stood up for both staff and members of this forum.
So you can take your baseless accusations elsewhere, LT. They don't belong here. If you have problems with poor mods, as you put it, take it up with those mods privately.
how can this part be enforced? there would need to be a means to disallow copy and paste from report threads, as well as making every poster in the thread (including staff) anonymous.
that's a lot of coding.
I will take it up with them publicly. Here, in fact. My "baseless accusations" will likewise remain.
I will grant, however, that I was not speaking specifically to you in my earlier post, but all the screeching AutobanAutobanAutoban people.
and I call bull again. You specifically said that while I could have that opinion, it spoke volumes about MY character and MY reasons for volunteering. Don't backpedal now, LT.
I agree. Harassment needs a definition. Right now in some forums there is too much latitude. A mod could get a hair up their *blink* just because they don't like someone. Then because they belong to the "officers" even the supermods support their decision. Good 'ol Boy philosophy.Define "harass", please.

Issues with staff decisions should be taken to the staff member, then the reconciliation team, period. Don't post them, don't PM them to others, don't take them to Lee.
I misspoke, and have already edited my earlier post to reflect. "You" is such a generic word.
