Well Tom the only PM I received was to tell me that my posts had been removed after the event!
You go figure!
I believe in our part of the world we call this 'Mushroom Management'!

Well I do wonder why we are told something is going to happen only to discover that it is not delivered!I haven't heard anything specific about the timing of the coding changes, besides "soon". Like the kid in the car on the way to grandma's house, I want to be there now.
I hope the change happens very soon. The technical folks tried earlier, and it didn't work out as planned - reporters had access instead of the people who were reported.
LT...I like your idea about reports. However, it would never work because we'd see an uprising from the more "democratic" posters. They would see it as someone taking away their right to a fair trial. Some view the reporting system here as something similiar to the US legal system. And in a way that's how I view it too. As a moderator I always felt like I was acting as a judge...or at least part of a jury.
This is a message board people. Nothing more, nothing less. If you don't like it here...leave. You probably need to. *Please note I am not addressing this to any one individual or group of people.*

Not delivered yet. It's obviously a complicated coding problem, since the first try went awry.
That might cut into his ad revenue and profits, though.Maybe he can hire Erwin back for a small fee.He didn't seem to have any problems, and he wasn't even a professional.
I am still getting PM alerts, and I've tested the alerts for several people. As far as I've been able to test, PM alerts are working.
It's possible that once in a while one doesn't go out due to an intermittent glitch or something. If we can confirm there's a glitch, then maybe the tech folks could trace it.
Speaking only for the Support Team, we look at the reported post(s) in the context of the thread, and we may find that there are other posts that require clean-up, or that are part of a derail, for example. While planning a thread clean-up, if I find a post appears to be egregious enough for a possible warning or an infraction, I make a habit of reporting it separately so our team can discuss it in detail.Do staff ever take action against posts in the absence of a report? If so, that could explain why there would be no PM.

So, a deletion, RFE or staff edit might not be preceded with a report if it's part of a large clean-up. But, a warning or infraction would be preceded by a report whether it's part of a clean-up or is a stand-alone post issue.
I suspect that other teams work pretty much the same way, but I can't speak on their behalf.
Possibly. But there have been a few cases I've heard of where a report was made, but the reportee didn't receive a PM.So, if a member receives notice that a post has been delted or edited, but does not receive a warning or infraction, this could possibly explain why no PM was sent informing them of a report prior to the action. A report would never have been made in the first place.
I have as well. It's not intentional on staff's part. Something to add to the tech's to-do list.Possibly. But there have been a few cases I've heard of where a report was made, but the reportee didn't receive a PM.

Can't you ingrates at least be happy that there are a bunch of new ads to look at?
