Ummmm. The text says "whatever the oil touched was holy". Thus it had literal holy value. It's not symbolic.

Yes it would. Read verse 33 again. If I only use this for aroma purposes only, and do not anoint anything or anyone, that would not contradict scripture I assume?
Yes it would. Read verse 33 again.
You already directly disobeyed what Yhwh said .
22Moreover, the LORD spoke to Moses, saying
What happened when foreigners had the Holy Ark in their possession ?31“You shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘This shall be a holy anointing oil to Me throughout your generations. 32‘It shall not be poured on anyone’s body, nor shall you make any like it in the same proportions; it is holy, and it shall be holy to you. 33‘Whoever shall mix any like it or whoever puts any of it on a layman shall be cut off from his people.’”
Seems to me, if we are to take this to the technical extreme, you were not being addressed there, Moses was. The rules were for him, not you.
But there could be some things I don't understand so, I would at least tend to ere on the side of caution, and maybe not mess with it. Interesting you would make that though...in a good or curious way.
Maybe try some olive oil for healing? Was that a formula? Not real familiar with those rules or passages but it seems to me it would be OK to do that.
The exact recipe is here:
I am into aromatherapy and decided to make the actual anointing oil recipe, it has a beautiful biblical aroma
- Myrrh Essential Oil - 500 shekels
- Cassia Essential Oil - 500 shekels
- Cinnamon Essential Oil - 250 shekels
- Calamus Essential Oil – 250 shekels and
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil (1 hin)
What does Yhwh say?Interesting, and It doesn't surprise me is smells good...if that's all your going to do with it, I can't see the harm.
I replicated the exact Holy Anointing Oil in Exodus, with the recipe found in Exodus 20
There appears to be a warning in the passage, would this warning apply to me, a believer in Christ?
The Anointing Oil
22Moreover, the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 23“Take also for yourself the finest of spices: of flowing myrrh five hundred shekels, and of fragrant cinnamon half as much, two hundred and fifty, and of fragrant cane two hundred and fifty, 24and of cassia five hundred, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil a hin. 25“You shall make of these a holy anointing oil, a perfume mixture, the work of a perfumer; it shall be a holy anointing oil. 26“With it you shall anoint the tent of meeting and the ark of the testimony, 27and the table and all its utensils, and the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense, 28and the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the laver and its stand. 29“You shall also consecrate them, that they may be most holy; whatever touches them shall be holy. 30“You shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister as priests to Me. 31“You shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘This shall be a holy anointing oil to Me throughout your generations. 32‘It shall not be poured on anyone’s body, nor shall you make any like it in the same proportions; it is holy, and it shall be holy to you. 33‘Whoever shall mix any like it or whoever puts any of it on a layman shall be cut off from his people.’”
I would want to give him both, and also use the oil
In light of twins post from above, why would it be a warning to a NT believer in Christ, with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit

31 “Tell the people of Isra’el, ‘This is to be a holy anointing oil for me through all your generations. 32 It is not to be used for anointing a person’s body; and you are not to make any like it, with the same composition of ingredients — it is holy, and you are to treat it as holy. 33 Whoever makes any like it or uses it on any unauthorized person is to be cut off from his people.’”
34 Adonai said to Moshe, “Take aromatic plant substances — balsam resin, sweet onycha root and bitter galbanum gum — these spices along with frankincense, all in equal quantities; 35 and make incense, blended and perfumed as would an expert perfume-maker, salted, pure and holy. 36 You are to grind up some of it very finely and put it in front of the testimony in the tent of meeting where I will meet with you; you are to regard it as especially holy. 37 You are not to make for your own use any incense like it, with the same composition of ingredients — you are to treat it as holy, for Adonai. 38 Whoever makes up any like it to use as perfume is to be cut off from his people.”

What happened when the Ark was in heathen hands ? (to the heathen)Since the order was for Moses/the Jews and not Baptists, and the OP cannot be cut off from his people because he is not a Jew, what then would the harm be? Seems sketchy at best to me, but again, maybe ere on the side of caution.
Okay, in verses 34-38 what is Yhwh's punishment HE says concerning the incense ?Verses 34 - 38 are not for the oil, they are for the incense.
I'm not discrediting your warnings, it does say the oil is Holy, and not to make anything like it.
Holy simply means separated unto God for His use. It is the same word we use as sanctified.
All believers are sanctified, separated unto God for His use, and need not fear Him in any way.
The oil is of no value to God for it only pictured the Spirit which all believers have.
Using it as a talisman though is WRONG! All we need is Christ and He is enough. We don't need holy oil, pictures that don't even look like the Lord Jesus, crosses or anything else that we use as though they make some sort of difference.
By all means use the oil to stir a good smell but NEVER as something that can bring you closer to God.
Not illogical at all. The word means separate. When applied to God it means a set apartness that is so far beyond all of Creation. That's illogical, considering it was at least valued by God in the Old Testament and anything the oil touched in the temple. It was then holy.

If you answer the question, I'll proceed. But I don't see why it maters because this is about oil, not incense...
