  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I can't overcome my sin. I'm in endless cycle that I ask God forgiveness and then I commit the same sin over and over again. I'm so disappointed why God hasn't help me yet ? I'm about to give up. I have been trying and praying for many years but no answer . has God abandoned me and that is my punishment by not listening to my prayers.

Its a cross for sure.

I myself have been fighting the same sins for several years.

The most important thing is that you keep getting up after you fall and run to God where His merciful arms are ALWAY open.

Dont give up.

Satan may win many battles with us but he aint NEVER going to win the war!

Keep asking God to replace your sinful nature / ways with His grace. Keep fighting against those sins. However many times you fall. Be strong. Persevere in trying to overcome them, with God's help.

God bless you

God loves you with a perfect love. There is nothing you can do to make Him love you more, and nothing you can do to make Him love you less.

Come to Him, not because you are strong, but because you are weak and that His strength is made perfect in weakness.

Come to the one who never changes, whose mercies are new every morning and whose compassions will never fail. Come to the one who forgives you seventy times seven, whose yoke is easy and whose burden is light.

Might be best to try to conquer this sin on your own before God steps in to help because, sometimes a little spanking from up stairs can be very, very painful.

The Bible says to examine ourselves and to finish the good race.

God has not abandoned you, he will never do that and he always listening. Overcoming sin is not easy, as a Christian there will be always be times when you mess up and god will forgive you if you ask him. From my experience he will work with you try and overcome it.

No. It's known as a "besetting sin". There are a number of possibilities. God abandons no one, people abandon God. God is Love. He punished Jesus for your sin. Why would He punish you? If you owed a car payment but someone else paid, would the finance company come after you? No. Neither does God "come after you".

A sin that you repeat and cannot overcome could one of the following reasons:
  1. You have a demon. This is extremely common. I know of children who have evil spirits. Satan lies to Christians and condemns them for what he is doing. Remember that it is not God who condemns.
  2. You are trying to live the Christian life in your own strength. You will fail. There is only one Person who can live the Christian life. Christians need to quit trying and start trusting.
  3. You have yet to realise that you died to sin. It no longer has any power over you. When temptation comes, you do not have to react. Ask God to open your eyes to see that you really did die with Christ
  4. I had some terrible problems. It was like I was on a treadmill of defeat and failure. The main reason was that I was focused on myself and my problems instead of Lord Jesus, who is the Answer. I asked God to lead in in the path of righteousness for His name's sake. (Psalm 23) God will surely do that. It took a while, but I was set completely free.
  5. Lord Jesus is "The Life". He came to give us life abundantly. That is NOT a better lifestyle. It is new life that we do not have before we are born again. It is the life of Christ. Change the word "save" to "deliver". We could read Romans 5:10 as "How much more will we be delivered by His life." When the life of Christ floods our being, we have His power, His love, His joy, His peace, His victory and everything else that we need. Our problem is that we just don't know it. When it finally dawns on us, we are transformed. For me, it was almost as wonderful as the moment I was born again.
  6. Don't imagine that victory is a passive thing. You need to fight, not to get victory, but to enforce it on Satan and all that is his is. Resist the devil with the Word of God, i.e. the Sword of the Spirit. Satan has no choice but to give ground.

Sorry, cannot agree. If we could conquer sin on our own we would not need Jesus. By grace we are saved, and that is every day of our life on earth.

I think you're wrong and that your advice is somewhat dangerous because we shouldn't try to do anything on our own strength. Even our obedience requires God's strength. We need to be utterly dependent upon God in all we do. God wants us to come as we are. He doesn't say, "sort out your life first then come to me." I cannot tell anyone that when you come to Jesus, all your problems, struggles will be over, I cannot tell them that. But I can say this most assuredly, that when you come to Jesus Christ in repentant and believing in Him, He will give you a purpose and meaning for life. I can tell you most assuredly, he will give you the power to overcome. The apostle Paul tells us as he writes to the Ephesians that when Christ comes into our life, the same power (the Spirit of the Living God) that raised Jesus from the dead will come to dwell on the inside of our mortal body. Living in the power of the resurrection is far greater than all of the challenges that this life can throw at us. Because He lives, I can face tomorrow.

When Satan presents us with temptations, we are often faced to respond with three choices. We can choose to fight it in our own strength, or fight it depending on the power of God, or we can choose to give in without putting up any fight. I personally don’t believe Satan can force us to sin. Most often, it is the case that we chose to give into sin willfully.

When the bible talks about self-control – the fruit of the Spirit (revealed in Galatians 5:22-23), it does not mean self-mastery, nor self-improvement, the Bible is talking about self-surrender to the Holy Spirit. Self-control is being empowered by the Holy Spirit of God, but self-mastery is dependent entirely on one’s power and will. Self-control is what takes place in a person’s life out of the abundance that springs out of that person’s love for Jesus, but self-mastery is designed to make a person take control of their own destiny. Even at its best, anyone practising self-mastery if they are honest will admit that things are truly out of control when their soul is completely naked before God.

However, having said all that, I must also say that there’s no point praying to God to clear the cobwebs if you are not willing to accept that God wants you to deal with and let go of the spider. This is why Jesus said (using a figure of speech saying), “If your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away…” – Matthew 18.9. Jesus is not saying that we should literally destroy the precious eyes he gave us, but what He is really saying is that we should get rid of those things that cause us to stumble into sin (e.g. smartphones, toxic friends).

OP (@MaryNabil), make this your prayer, let it bee the cry of your heart:

Lord Jesus, let every chain be broken from me, as I’m bound in Your grace, for Your yoke is easy Your burden is light. O Lord, may my heart always be set on your Kingdom. Break my heart for what breaks yours. Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting! Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Amen & Amen.

I'm not sure that Christians can have demons?
How can a demon hang out with the Holy Spirit?
Attacks from the devil -- sure.
But, demons?

Sure for unsaved ones.
Many of them have demons.

If demons could not hang out with the Holy Spirit then there should be none left anywhere. Lord Jesus should not have needed to cast them out. Demons cannot get into the spirit of the Christian. Jesus is there so they cannot be. The devil is in one place at one time. Mostly his assaults are through the other satanic forces - evil spirits, demons, principalities, powers, wicked rulers of darkness and the spiritual wickedness in high places.

There are levels of demonic activity in individual lives. They gain access through ignorance and sin. Christians can be oppressed - excessively influenced and manipulated by an evil spirit or demon. Some Christians (rarely) are possessed. That means they become so bound that they no longer have control of their own will. One of the reasons that the church is so weak is that few minister deliverance to those who are oppressed.

We've seen dramatic changes in our own lives, and those we've set free by the authority Christ gave to us. We also teach how to keep free, which is vitally important. There is nothing freaky or spooky about deliverance. Demons must go when commanded in the name of Jesus.

Look for the root cause of your sin. If you seek what is causing it then you can start dealing with it.

The first one to know about my life is God. Sometimes when I sin and I don't realized I did, He is the first one to come to talk about what happened and show me His perspective. He is, indeed, a wonderful counselor.
