• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

one of my concerns is that sometimes a phrase especialy blasphemous or borderline blasphemous runs through my mind over and over again. somethings i just let it happen and either observe or am so tired that i am thoroughly apathetic to it .. then i wonder am i realy doing this or is it the mental illness or i wonder you know if this is mentall illness why am i not trying to counter it .. but regarding the phrases have you ever been just so tired you just let it happen or else it started happening and just let it be ?

I need to clarify that i am new at trying to effectively deal with this so i will ask for youre patience ..

Andy...I totally understand what you mean about being so totally tired from this disorder. And I think that is where you need to be to be able to start the therapy. And letting the thoughts happen and doing nothing about it is exactly what the therapy requires. This is really tough to do, but slowly over time it is the only way out. Your brain has to be retrained to stop reacting to the obsessions. You have to let it be until you brain can recognize that it can be ignored. I practice the therapy all the time and I need to often be encouraged not to give up when it seems too hard. Don't give up....EVERY time say "ok whatever" to the thoughts and then don't think about whether your anxious or apathetic...live with that uncertainty and in time the doubt will resolve itself.
