CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

we were just talking at work the other day about the short life of appliances
my mom had a maytag washer and dryer that worked for ~35 years (in fact, they may still be in use), no one ever expects that sort of lifespan on an appliance these days

Nothing except for having to 'blow' a few grand to get my plumbing problem fixed.
Dawn's going thru some 'house issues' too, that we were gripping about.
It's nice to own a home, but when things go wrong, it sure is expensive. I need to call my dad tonite to discuss money and what he wants/thinks I should do.....since I'm going to have to borrow the money from him.

Oh! thats not fun!. I hope it won't cost too much. I love that fact that you can always count on the bank of Mom&Dad!Nothing except for having to 'blow' a few grand to get my plumbing problem fixed.

yeah, I'm kinda' working out the 'negotiation stage' of what needs to be fixed and I'm informing my dad along the way.......
I, honestly, never ask to borrow money from them....and my dad comments to me how proud he is of me, making it on my own as a single mom and buying my house, etc. But, I have no money in the bank and the plumbing needs to be fixed, so the folks are kinda' when I get to my 'desperate and begging phase'.
And my dad likes to negotiate these things with me and lecture me about what I should do......it makes him feel important.
