I had to break down and go to the doctors today. My throat is so sore, I can't eat a thing I'm sending out some reps to pass my time, but warning: I'm on meds and can't be held responsible for anything goofy I may say. LOL

I make "quick quilts". We don't quilt them, we tie them. I belong to a group that makes quilts for wounded soldiers. There is a blog entry I made about it about 4 or 5 down on the "front" page. The quilt I am making now is for a fund-raiser for a friend who is doing trying to raise money for a friend of hers who was shot and has some enormous medical bills. Actually I'm making two quilts for it. One to raffle off and one to sign and give to him to raise his spirits.

Our group does have a project going with a local school. The kids and staff are all drawing/coloring pictures that will be incorporated into quilts. Each class will have their own quilt to be sent over to a wounded soldier. This is a quilt I made from one of the classes artwork.

Doesn't matter if they're "quick quilts" or whatever - you have a gift and you're doing something for "the least of these" with that gift. Consider all that the students are learning from your group's example.

You're awesome sister and a blessing to those who you're serving.

Any Dancing With the Stars fans? I know there are some AI folks here (I'm not one of them, but do like DWTS).

OK - this is going to be really nasty - but how much plastic surgery has Priscilla Presley had? She has no facial expression (other than perpetually bored) and I think it's because nothing moves any more.

I don't know about Priscilla Presley, but Joan Rivers has had bunches. She is so funny on those commercials asking if she is smiling because she can't feel anything. LOL.

It is awesome to work with students. I went to the principal of the elementary school my daughter goes to and they all wrote letters. They have a class where they are taught about things like honesty and other values like that, and when they did compassion they talked about the soldiers and what our group was doing. I took in one of the quilts I made to use as a demonstration and all the kids wrote letters. The kids in kindergarten and 1st grade, the teacher had made papers that had a sentence at the top about hoping they (the soldiers) get better soon and the kids drew pictures on them. One girl drew a quilt on hers and I am going to use that quilt picture as a pattern for a quilt and include that letter in it.

When we got the letters (500 of them) we laughed and cried as we read and folded them. It was awesome!!

I tend to ignore commercials - but know just the one you're talking about, I think it's a hoot.
