interesting

Yes I know what you mean too. I feel addictive to the rep thing and the fellowship seems to be lost now. I hope a lot of newbies sign up so maybe it will make it better. I don' t know?
Well for sure everybody will have different experiences and alot of those experiences can also hinge on what your rep power is... becuz in each new level you get to, other 'issues' come up that you have to figure out and work thru.

So what 1 person might deal with, another mite not be dealing with until they move up to that rep level to experience it.

I agree, I hope new people join & start it back up again - or people start coming back eventually. Not that I don't agree w/ reasons they left.

I know some have been yes - and I won't name names either.

I agree w/ your posts - just that it mite not apply to everybody, so not everybody should take your statements personally as if you're attacking them becuz you aren't. You're point of view is just as valid as any others.

There's good and bad in all of this stuff. It is what we make of it.
I think once we let go & just stop gaining in reps, we can see it alot more objectively when we're 'out of the loop' (so to speak) and it doesn't have any hold over us. It can definitely be addictive.

No, I'm not attacking anyone personally. I suspect there are many here that have no idea that exchanging rep points can be addictive.

As for that "loop" I agree. It does have a hold, and it's hard to walk away from.

Yes I know what you mean too Ariel. The other week someone that I never even saw before asked me why I didn't rep them. I honestly never saw that person before. I always try to be fair as I can with the rep thing.

Sometimes I think it brings out the worst in people, SCJ. I've been incredulous at times with some of the things I've experienced.

I can't speak for others, but I'm feeling it. I traded my way to where I am now, I never had the help others are getting. I'm tired.

I left all my trading partners with each other more than a week ago. I was too tired to go on, it was time to walk away.

Today I'm back to trading--but only to help someone get out of here. So for a while I will help that person, and then maybe walk out of CF forever. I haven't decided yet. I'm still talking to some of the moderators, I'm still hoping for a resolution of an issue we have all been affected by, the return of Pastor Steve.

Well you've done well in pulling out of the 'rep race' lol - I commend you on that

Don't you go anywhere. Stay and speak up. I love many here and this is hard to say but I agree with you on many of your points. Not to take sides but rather to state the truth from my heart.

Reputation is not as it was intended to be. Everyone just simply opens accounts and reps themselves. It is just a game and perhaps it should be noted that way. Much different than the pre 7/7/7 Cf.

Stay Dear you are correct in many of your observations and there is nothing wrong with your view point.

God bless you...

Yes, Ctay, you are right, "reputation" was originally meant to be a way of rewarding people for good post. When I came to CF more than four years ago, that is how we used it. I gained my first 40,000 or so points that way.

Then it was changed. It was fun, we've all had some good times.

The harm comes when you start realizing that people are hurting themselves and their families to continue something that has absolutely no bearing on reputation. It's a game, and it's addictive.

We've joked about that as well. We've talked about our "repaholic" habit. The actuality is that it IS addictive.

It's time to see it for what it is.

I've been talking to several other people; several of us are coming to feel the same way.

If the rep cap increases let's call it something else. Let's divorce it completely from the idea of "reputation."

I go away on the weekends. ;) About all I can do is sit an hour at a time on the computer, then get up and go do something like clean and cook supper. Usually I'll get on at night, hubby usually takes over the tv and normally there's not much on to watch anyway

The thing that happens Sc, (in my view of course, I"m sure others mite not see it the same way or have the same issues -and have different issues - esp. if they're using socks where they don't rely on other people for the majority of their reps)
Is when your rep score climbs, you have to keep finding more people to trade with or raise your trades up so that you use the majority of them you can spare to gain each day,
yet try to keep some aside to bless other people & friends with wherever else you might be around CF.

Anyways, the more you're trading, the more it takes to make sure you get the reps to them (hopefully in larger blocks at a time or else you're stuck nursing one rep at a time over time)....

the fellowship goes out the window (at least what it used to be like w/ trading)... most other people can't trade w/ you becuz the amounts are so unbalanced...
& if you do get your rep cycle messed up when you're in your trades, you're really in trouble becuz you can't just skip days when others depend on your reps coming to them.. :sigh:
things just happen that cause stresses - it would be alot easier if CF got rid of that 24 hour rep cycle. I wouldn't be near as worn out as I am.

This is my response in the other thread regarding this. I submit it here...
I would love to see as many people in the prayer threads as I do in the reps. It would be wonderful. Time to return the reputation to a time when it meant more. Pre 7/7/7 reputation rules. Call the current points recreation points or something. They surely are not what Erwin intended them to be. I know this because I spent lots of time enforcing those rep rules prior to 7/7/7 and I agreed with them.

This place needs control already. Who the heck is in charge. Make decisions with thought not on the basis of what you may believe the louder members want.

Too many chiefs and not enough indians as my grandmother use to say. Only one person should drive at a time.

Rise and Shine please...

I think it would be great if Reps automatically recycled at a set time every night and then you could use them through out the day...

I hope TPTB do impliment that...

As to the rest, I just don't get it... it's not a hassle or a stressor for me... I play for fun and I try to do it with a good attitude... I have never *given* a rep expecting one in return and am always thankful for the reps I receive... even now when they don't *count* as I am maxed out... I do not consider myself obligated to rep anyone who reps me other than *deals* I have made... I do try to rep those who rep me, but there have been days when I receive over 100 reps and I only have 40 to give  not in line with reality... I don't stress over it... I just keep on reppin'...

As to fellowship... I started playing the *rep* game before the Rep Forum existed so I did not visit here much and still don't spend a lot of time here... I prefer the fellowship in the BE section... but it has been slow all over CF since the 7/7/7 changes and even more so with the software transition :sigh:

I hope it recovers and someone in leadership chooses to lead...
