  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Father , as we approach Remembrance Sunday what can we say ?

At 11 o'clock on the 11th day of the 11th month 1918 the guns of the First World War fell silent . It was said to be the war to end all wars .

Alas we have failed you and wars have continued ever since to this very day .

Father , have mercy on us .

May those who have died in wars know your peace .

May the soldiers damaged physically , emotionally and psychologically find healing .

Release of Poppy Petals.

Loving Father , in the silence we pray for peace , and remember the fallen ones who gave their lives .

May the orphans and widows never be neglected .

May the nations be reconciled .

May we be peacemakers .

Thank you Father , Father of the Prince of Peace , and again we ask you to have mercy on us .

Abide with Me.

Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;
Earth's joys grow dim; its glories pass away;
Change and decay in all around I see;
O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

I need Thy presence every passing hour.
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

Remembrance Sunday at the Cenotaph this day last year .

It is not a day to glorify war .

It is not a day to debate the rights and wrongs of various wars .

It is a day to remember those who , out of duty , have given their lives in war .

May they rest in peace .

Many tears will be shed this day .

Lord , Prince of Peace , please shower your blessings of peace , love and consolation on all , but especially upon those who mourn .

( The hymn traditionally sung at the Cenotaph on this day )

1. O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, our shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal home.

2. Under the shadow of thy throne, still may we dwell secure; sufficient is thine arm alone, and our defense is sure.

3. Before the hills in order stood, or earth received her frame, from everlasting, thou art God, to endless years the same.

4. A thousand ages, in thy sight, are like an evening gone; short as the watch that ends the night, before the rising sun.

5. Time, like an ever rolling stream, bears all who breathe away; they fly forgotten, as a dream dies at the opening day.

6. O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come; be thou our guide while life shall last, and our eternal home.

Queen Elizabeth leads the nation's tribute to the fallen on Remembrance Sunday 2012 just as she has done today .

Two Minute Silence 11/11/11 .

Lord , faced with the horrors of war , perhaps all we can do is to be silent before you .

Lord , Prince of Peace , hear our silence . See our tears . Grant to all who have fallen in war , all who are at war now , all who are disfigured by war , all the widows and orphans , grant to all your peace .

Lord , have mercy on us all , for we are all sinners .
