Dear Daily Message Readers,

READ: Galatians 4:1-7

Galatians 4:4 (NKJV) "But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law."

In today's Bible reading, the apostle Paul compares Israel's wait for the Messiah to waiting for an inheritance. He wrote that as an heir that as an heir is "under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father" (Galatians 4:2). This explains so clearly why Israel had to wait for the long-awaited Messiah until the time determined by God the Father. When that time came, Jesus, the Savior, Lord, and Messiah of all people, was "born of a woman" and was "born under the law" (so that He could fulfill the law on our behalf--See Matthew 5:17-20).

What was the purpose of Christ’s coming? Simply put, the purpose of His coming to earth in human likeness was to redeem (4:5). His mission was to set us free from the hopelessness of trying to save ourselves, and to make possible our salvation by grace through faith in Him.

As Christmas fast approaches and the busyness increases, I hope you, the Daily Message reader, are having a joyous and fun-filled time. However, I also challenge you to remember God's timing for this season--that Jesus came on God's schedule and that He will return when God says. Reflecting on these ideas will help make this holiday more significant for each of us. Faith Lesson: Christ's birth is the world's greatest gift ever.

In Christ,
Darin Smith
