I remember hearing about things.

My grandpa told me that if he ever got his hands on one of those hippies he would give that a good scrubbing in the old metal tub.

I remember my mom had an old wringer washer and hung the diapers up to dry. Her's were the whitest in the neighborhood.

I remember my mom used to listen to "Downtown" and "These boots are made for walking"

I remember we used to read the Bible and pray in the morning just before singing "God save the Queen"
And girls could be expelled for wearing pants to school.

Until 1969 I really was not aware of TV shows, news, songs (unless my mom listened to them) or anything else. I first heard about Woodstock when I was an adult.

Now my husband who is in his late 50s remembers all this.

My real awareness of things around me came about in the 70s. That is when I made choices.

I did not like the direction music was taking so I stopped listening to music.
I went to one concert with friends and ended up praying that if God would get me through the opening (I felt like I was being bound spiritually) I would get out and never return. As soon as I could move (right after opening) I took off at a dead run and did not stop till I was home. I never returned to a rock concert.
I did not resurface until the late 70s and start listening to music again.

I stopped listening to most of that music when I became a Christian in the seventies, too. It was just recently that my husband and I started listening to some of the stuff - but the lyrics - or lack thereof - are disgusting. WWJD?
