You recall when Love's Baby Soft was in every girl's Christmas stocking.
This rings a bell: "My name is Charlie, and they work for me."
You were unsure if Diet Coke would ever catch on. (Related item: you were sure that "New Coke" would NEVER catch on.)
You know all the words to the double-album set of the "Grease" soundtrack.
You've ever had a Dorothy Hamill haircut.
You sat with your friends on any given Friday night circa 1982 and dialed 867-5309 to see if Jenny was actually there.
"All skate, change directions" means something to you.
You've ever owned a pair of rainbow suspenders like the ones Mork used to wear.
You bought a pair of Vanns and wanted to order a pizza in history class so you could be just like Jeff Spicoli. (Related item: if you've ever smacked yourself in the head with a shoe and exclaimed, "I'm so wasted!")
You owned a Preppy Handbook.
You were too young to see "Blue Lagoon," so you just had to settle for the second-hand reports.
You remember when movies were only PG and R.
You learned to swim at about the same time "Jaws" came out....and still carry the emotional scars to prove it.
You remember when your cable TV box had a sliding selector switch... and your "cable remote" was connected to the TV by CORD!
Your jaw would ache by the time you finished one of those brick-sized packages of Bazooka.
You remember Bo and Luke Duke, Daisy, Boss Hogg, or-worst of all-what Sheriff Roscoe's full name was.
Your parents paid $2,000 for a top-loading VCR that was almost the size of a coffee table.
You found nothing strange about Bert and Ernie living together.
You remember having a rotary phone.
You actually believed that Mikey, famed kid on the Life cereal commercials, died after eating Pop Rocks and drinking a Coke.
"Members Only" jackets...say no more.
And lastly, I'll make a song stick in your head for the rest of the day: ...you actually remember the words to the theme song of "The Greatest American Hero." ("BELIEVE IT OR NOT, I'M WALKIN' ON AIR...I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD FEEL SO FREE-EE-EE...")

SoBlessed53, you're just a kid!
I remember when the "G M R X" movie rating system was developed (1967); before that, "racy" ;) movies like "A Man And A Woman" were labeled "adults only". Many now-classic movies (Midnight Cowboy, The Graduate, The Last Picture Show) were originally rated X, but were later changed to R.

I remember when nationwide direct-dial phone service came into being (1963); before that, you had to dial the operator, tell her (always "her") that you wanted to make a long-distance call, then give her the numbers and your name.

I remember when the first satellite (Sputnik) was launched by the U. S. S. R. (who?) in 1957. I was only 3, but I remember it because my family was worried. The Soviets were in space, and we wern't.

Of course, I'm just a kid to some of you out there; let's hear your memories!

I remember when we had a party line and, where I lived, the phone just cut you off after 3 minutes.

My oh my I was having flashbacks reading Soblessed's list. Thank you for the stroll down memory lane.

And don't forget those disgusting flared pants that were all the rage. I actually found a pair in amongst all the old junk. I looked at them and thought: You didn't. But I did.

That's soooo funny. Yep, many times I've looked at old pictures, etc. and thought the same. Any of you gals remember the white lipstick we used to wear??? Heavy, heavy, blue and/or green eye shadow and thick mascara, but white lips.

:( I remember when color television came out. You guys are making me feel veryyyy old!!! :) :sigh:

I remember we never had any desire for color tv for years because everyone we saw had purple or green tinted people,LOL! And ladies remember when we all heard that Twiggy wore 4 coats of mascara so we did the same? Talk about looking like Tammy Faye if we cried or got caught in the rain.It wasn't waterproof back then.

I remember when family night out meant packing up the car and going to a drive in movie~~
Or going on a date to the drive in restaurant and you rolled down your window to anchor the food tray on~~
A time when kids never ever dreamed of talking back to their parents~~
A time where when you were sent to the principles office in school you could have a 'board meeting'. There were no pop machines and junk food machines in schools.
Pot bellied stoves for heating your house or coal furnances~~
And air conditioning was a electric fan if you were lucky~~
Family gatherings every Sunday~~
Hand pushed lawn mowers and hand held trimmers~~
Hip hugger pants and halter tops~~saddle shoes
Owning a pair of nylons was a luxury with the girdle and nylon hooks~~whoever heard of pantyhose~~?
Gas was 29.9 cents a gallon~~milk less then that.
Oh my~~aha
