  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Do you not know that YOU are the temple of God, that the Spirit of God dwells IN you?" (1 Corinthians 3:16)

............

Let's make room for God in our lives, OK?

So, what does that mean?

..........

Try imagining that you've decided to start looking at yourself differently. Yes, I'm talking about the material self, if that's possible. And how I propose you do this, is to begin by picturing God as standing right beside you. You're surely sitting down right now as you read this, so picture Him standing right beside you, looking over your shoulder as you read this. He's now seen you stop and close your eyes, as you imagine Him beside you, OK? Ha. Having fun yet? Ok, then continue imagining Him there, RIGHT beside you. You stopped doing it because you are now reading this, instead of imagining God beside you, right? So, you want to close your eyes again and start the process over, or are you just going to continue reading this post, hoping I have something worth sharing besides this little game? It's up to you, you know. No one can look at God FOR you. Either way, I'M playing the game. I'M imagining my Lord and Savior right beside me as I type this.

You see, when I play this game, as you might be calling it, I am separating myself from my physical and mental actions for a moment. I stop, if only for a moment, and identify myself with my mortality ......... if even for a few seconds. THIS, my friend, is another way that you can make room for God in your life, but in a new way. HIS Presence helps lead your attention, and ultimately your awareness, toward Him instead of you. Just keep doing it. God will see what you're doing and will send the Holy Spirit down to keep you motivated. Try to get a handle on THIS part, OK? >>>>>> After you start playing this little game of "Peek-a-boo" with God, He will put little thoughts in your mind which will remind you to continue the game later, at a different time. The point I am trying to maker here is, don't ignore them, those little thoughts of stopping to look at God. Yes, stopping to acknowledge that He REALLY IS right beside you.

..........

OK, so here goes another little mind game, if you're up to it. Imagine that you know this person who has in storage everything that you could possibly want or need to be happy for the rest of your life. For SOME folk, that might be a REALLY big warehouse! Anyway, this person has you convinced that, unless you do his total bidding, and you really have to be nice about it, or else you get nothing that he has stored up for you. Are we good to go so far? O.K., also imagine this person has the power over your health and well-being. You still with me? Now imagine that this person, who basically is in control of your life, will only start giving up "your stuff" at some future date, which you really don't know. This person surely couldn't be a very nice person, could they? And, just maybe, if this person was really God, He wouldn't be a very nice god, would He ?

So, here's the question: "Do you picture God being this way with you?" Really, do you? But, you see, this isn't what the Bible tells us! It says that God has promised to us that everything that He has, is yours! Yeh, you and me. It's ours. The point I am trying to make here is: God isn't doing anything right now that's been different from anything else He's been doing, since before the beginning of time !!! God is only here for you right now, as He is here for EVERYBODY ELSE ...... "right now". And this goes for just yesterday, and just last week and even just 2 centuries ago, OK? And whatever solution you seek for whatever problem you might be having, is available RIGHT now. Everybody has a "right now", if they only stop to participate in it. Or is it that you really believe in Santa Clause and maybe even that weird Tooth-Fairy chick ??

My point of all this is, when we each begin to know the truth that, "you are the Temple of God", and that "the Spirit of God dwells in you", you'll begin to start realizing that God ISN'T HOLDING ONE DURN THING FROM YOU !! God is right beside you and is ready and able, because He just happens to be God, OK?, to help you in EVERY problem area that you now or will EVER experience. You see, once us humans can somehow muster up ENOUGH attention, we can begin to unlock the mystery of God. And the "mystery" for us humans is that we have come to believe, with all of our heart and mind, that He is hidden from us ! And just because we've dreamt up this idea in our heads just doesn't make it so! So ..................... He is here, right beside me, as I continue to type this post. And He's going to stay here as the omnipresent, all-knowing and totally wonderful God, Who will continue to commune with me and be the Source of healing for all my woes and problems of life.

And to really top this all off, I know in my heart that all my sins are mistakes of my ego and my intellect, which are CONSTANTLY separating me from God's complete Presence in my life. My error, and surely yours, is that I have not brought to bear in my life the FACT that His Love has saved me, and that I will continue to drown, in my own lack of faith, until I realize that this Love is so !

You see, when we let Jesus help us, the grip which satan HAD on us is let go. Jesus rids us of satan's power, thusly eliminating the illusion we have that it's up to US to keep our lives straightened out.

NOTHING of evil has ever touched God. God will not punish you for your past sins, if you confess them TO Him and give Jesus control of your life.

..........

Father in Heaven, please help the person reading this to have his or her mind illuminated to the knowledge that YOU are the solution to all of their problems. Give them the courage to take another look at Your Son, Jesus, OK? They really need your help, Lord. Help them see that YOU are the Sustaining Power and that, WHEN they embrace this sight, all other forms of power on Earth will dissolve right before them. THEN, and only then, will they stop giving credence to satan's presence in the world around them. Thank You, God. Tommy

.........

My friend, being spiritual is not an emotional accomplishment. Being spiritual is your way of trying to realize, little by little, that having God in your life needs to be a natural event. You cannot attempt to be spiritual because, if you do, you only erect another barrier for your ego to stay strong behind. Your ego, your self-concept, which identifies with the world and the things in it, is what wants to define you, if you let it. Just continue to try your best to see God standing right beside you, as He always has, OK? God isn't available for SOME people and not available for others. OUR problems are in our head. OUR problems are created by the DISCONNECTION we've created between ourselves and our Creator.

...........

Thank You, God, for being with us, through all our weakness, and our trials and temptations. Thank You for knowing how weak we are and just how much we need Your Holy Spirit every day of our lives. Amen.
