  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Remember Osama Bin Laden?

Capture.  It's what Bush promised.

Keep in mind Osama didn't need any fancy equipment to bring upon the worst terrorist attack in American history.

I think it's fairly obvious that fighting an invisible enemy is not in the interest of Bush's administration - for they quickly switched targets once Osama could not be found.

BTW, how do we even know Osama was bombed?

It doesnt make a difference wether we bombed Osama himself, thats not the issue, i know hes alive. The question that is being asked is are his capabilities substantially limited? The answer is yes, we have been bombing the caves of Afghanistan for months now and I find it hard to believe that his resources have not been somewhat down-sized after a campaign like the one recently launched. Liberals try to turn the focus from Saddam 'Oh weve gotta finish the last thing, with, ya know the Al-Quaeda guys and stuff.' the thing is a new threat has been revealed and our main priority is to take care of the most immediate threats to american security, being Saddam. Al Quaeda has been effectivly crippled, and we'll finish them off once we're through with Saddam.

In terms of the mainland United States, Hussein rates a solid -2 on the threat-o-meter, a rating that indicates no threat at all. He IS a threat to Israel and to American allies in the mid-east.
What exactly do you think Hussein can do to the US?

Let's imagine, for the sake of argument, that as much of a tenth of the weaponry he used to have still exists, and is just hidden - and, after all, we've found no evidence that it was really destroyed.

That's enough chemical and biological agents to take out a city. Easy.

Maybe the French are right, and we should wait until he's taken out a city or something before acting, I mean, what do we have to lose? We've got lots of cities we aren't using much.

To answer the thread title, you bet. I remember OBL. I don't think anyone has forgoten.

He could be dead as far as I know, and in such a way that he does not become a martyr.

That's right, it would not be far-fetched that he was already taken out, without any fanfare or media notification.

This is not as impossible an operation as some may think.

Just some thoughts.....;)

When did I say anything about him not having chemical or biological weapons? My point is that Iraq is STILL no threat to the US, even with all those weapons. To hear some Americans tell it, you'd think they were surrounded by millions of Iraqis, all armed to the teeth and waiting to pillage every single household in the US.

How can you possible be certain of this?

The question that is being asked is are his capabilities substantially limited?

How can we even begin to answer that if we don't know where he is or what he is up to?

 The answer is yes,

How?

... we have been bombing the caves of Afghanistan for months now and I find it hard to believe that his resources have not been somewhat down-sized after a campaign like the one recently launched.

Just because you find it hard to believe he is a threat doesn't really mean much.  Remember, this man brought upon the worst terrorist attack in history using plane tickets and box cutters as weapons.  We don't know where he is, but we know that if he is still alive than he is definetly planning something diabolical for us.

Liberals try to turn the focus from Saddam 'Oh weve gotta finish the last thing, with, ya know the Al-Quaeda guys and stuff.'

Oh come on now.  It is just as easy for me to say:

"Conservative try to turn the focus away from Osama because they don't want to admit we failed in our goal to find him"

Al Quaeda has been effectivly crippled
How do we know they were crippled?  They have cells all over the world.

...and we'll finish them off once we're through with Saddam.

Let's hope they don't attack us again in the meantime.  As I pointed out they don't need a huge army or vast resources to hurt us.

Here's a question for you all.

If OBL were found, dead or alive, would it stop the terrorist attacks do you think?

Or are all of the sleeper cells along with the cells that are currently active as much, if not more of, a threat right now?

Sincere question btw ~ food for thought.
