  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Stuff like Sarah McLaughlin (sp?), The Toadies, Hootie and the Blowfish? Of course! I remember when I was thinking "Hmm... this *new* stuff isn't as good as the late 80s music... ha!" My band was Nine Inch Nails. I still like NIN, but not in the way I did back then.

Yeah.... I remember those, Dishwalla, Sponge, Stone Temple Pilots... sheesh man I can't believe those years in the military flew by me so fast.

You too? I was in the Corps from 94 to 97. Some of the best and worst years of my life. I can remember the phones stopped ringing and everyone crowded around the TV when the OJ verdict was read.

...and... who remembers where they were when they first heard Nirvana's Kurt Cobain "may have shot himself?"

Don't remember when I heard that news. You know what the sad thing about this is, I see teens today wearing Nirvana T-Shirts! :swoon: We're getting older and older.

I've got a funny story from my workplace (I work in youth ministry). I was hanging out with some of them when this Greenday song came on the radio. I said something like "Man, this song came out when I was in high school! It's neat how they're cool again!" They all disagreed, and vehemently argued that the song in question was brand new, and that Greenday was new on the music scene. It took me a long time to convince them that I wasn't faking my high school nostalgia!

love all the bands/singers mentioned thus far.
my favorite was depeche mode and camoflage.

i have a funny story:

back in my final year in college, i used to work in a store that played satellite radio and every other song was a remake of an 80s or 90s song. recognizing the beat & tempo (and reminscing about the 'good ol' days, i would announce it as such and even go as far as decribing the details of the original version. some of the people i worked with were only 5 years younger than me but did not recognize the song. when i tell them it's a remake, they'd say "wow, you're old." :|

so, recognizing remakes = aging?
i like to think of it as being cultured. :)

I miss the grunge sound. My ipod is full of many kinds of music but it has plenty of Soundgarden, Alice N Chains, NIN, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Better than Ezra, etc.

That's what I have in my iPod too. Better than Ezra is awesome.

I remember all of those bands well. It actually doesn't seem that long ago.

I was shocked to go to a classic car show recently only to find a 1972 Chevy Pick-up truck that was the same year and make I learned to drive in.

Talk about feeling old, I told the owner he rained on my weekend for putting that 'new' of a truck in a classic car show.

I remember I was staying in a hotel during a hockey tournament, my friends and I all crammed into one hotel room and watched Nirvana play on Saturday Night Live.

Cobain was so obviously on heroin, I can't remember if they were any good on the show?

Nirvana, Green Day's Dookie, Gob, Rancid, Oasis, Elastica...those were my favs.

Favourite song from the 90's....Pulp's ' Common People.'
