Has anyone seen this movie?
Are there any errors?
Problems? or our right lies?
What do you think of how he acquired his interviews?
I hear (on Wiki) he used similar tactics as the expelled crew used of false movie names and not even telling peopelt hat he was the one to do the interviews.

(also if there is a better forum for this mods please feel free to move it there.)

For those who haven't seen Religulous, you can watch it here:
http://www.megavideo.com/?v=AXKCXJSN

Bill Maher has many valid points but obviously the movie is supposed to be funny aswell.
It has a 7.8 rating on IMDB.com (biggest movie site afaik)
In context, Expelled has a 3.7.

I wouldn't even dare to compare the two regarding using the same tactics. Ben Stein flat out lies and conceals his agenda during his interviews. Bill Maher says many times in his interviews that he thinks religions are absolutely ridiculous and have been saying that for years on TV.
Of course both movies are not objective and only show 1 side of the argument. Thats fine and the case with most documentaries, but using cheap tactics to trick people is NOT a valid way to make a documentary.

I invite anyone who thinks Bill Maher does even removely the same as Ben Stein to post the timecode of the movie and an explanation why you think that part is wrong.

The similarities are that both filmmakers are clowns with vastly uninsightful or ignorant points.

I remember when I watched Religulous I watched expelled right after to get more of a balanced viewpoint. However I found out both used similar techniques in they're movies. Of course as a Christian I think Ben Stein has much more honorable intentions than Bill Maher..

Religulous seems more on just bashing religion than trying to find wisdom or real answers to his question. The only decent conversation in the film that had had any substance was mahers interview with the priest at the Vatican Observatory astronomy lab, of course Maher wasn't having any of that and it quickly cut off. The rest of the film seemed to be interviewing people who had little if any theological training or hermeneutic understanding.

Honorable? With that movie he just lost all credibility as a serious documentary maker. I'm not talking about the points he's trying to make but the way he makes them.
Go read some objective articles on the internet about the movie and you'll see the kind of fallacies Ben Stein uses.

Right there, what you just said it the main difference between the movies. Religulous is supposed to be funny, Expelled is actually supposed to be serious.

Bill Maher is a comedian. His main goal is amusement and religion, lets face it, is hilarious. So many people all over the world are doing ridiculous things in the name of religion. Maybe your religion is better (everyone thinks that of their own religion) but the point of the movie is more to show the absurdities of religion we take for granted.

Ben Stein's movie goal on the other hand is totally different. It has a serious agenda to promote ID into the science class rooms while it's absolutely unscientific and it would be in violation of the first amendment.

So, basically, it's the atheistic version of Expelled. Creationists and theists will fawn over Expelled, despite the fact that it's been mathematically proven to be full of poop. Evolutionists and atheists will love Religulous, and I can only assume a similar site will pop up in religious circles.

Though, of course, the more rational and critical Creationists, Evolutionists, theists, and atheists, won't be as adoring of either film.

Me? I prefer unbiased sources... though since there's no such thing, all we can do is be exposed to as much as possible, and used our brains to filter out the garbage (bye-bye, Expelled...).

Yep, that was the main difference I saw, as well. The only thing I truly disliked about Religulous was the ending - it was far too serious, and was little more than five minutes of anti-religion propaganda.
