Where is it written 'thou shalt get vaccinated'? Sodomy is the most efficient sexual disease spreader, almost commensurate to taking a shot right into a vein. ~Who are we to judge~ though, right? But no vaccination? ~outrage~

That would be as anachronistic as "thou shall wear thy seat belt," "thou shall not troll on the internet," "thou shall flush the toilet," and "thou shall not drive in a reckless way that endangers thyself and others." Penicillin, insulin, chemotherapy, and aspirin also are not in the Bible to my knowledge, not because they lack validity but because they were unknown at the time scripture was written.

There are Bible-based reasons for obtaining proper vaccinations for yourself or your children unless there is a valid medical reason to abstain from them, as this physician presented here: http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct...-of-all-people-should-get-their-vaccines.html

FYI, vaccines are not shot right into the vein.

Out of curiosity, did you go to college / do you attend one now? My OP is primarily about immunizations colleges such as the one I now attend (Stanford) require as a condition for student enrollment. Students do have the ability to submit a form requesting exemption, as I detailed in the OP, but it's exceedingly rare for approvals to be granted. Those who still refuse to get vaccinated can simply choose not to attend Stanford or any other college with similar policies.

Here is a link to a form that parents can use to justify a philosophical objection.
Maybe it will help to understand what people are objecting against.

OK. Well thx. That sorta helps to understand what a philosophical objection is. I'm still confused. That form has a lotta baloney on it. For real. Why would someone sign that. Well it's about a child too. So what about what Ella is saying? Cause I think this is about college students. How would you answer those qs that Stanford asks ppl wanting to be exempt from the shots?

Came back to this.
The 1st question. What's the name of the philosophy? That's what I really don't get. Cause if it's Jehovah Witness that has a name but what's the name of the philosophy?

I can't answer that. People from all walks of life object to vaccines. I don't think there is one name for it. Mostly they just get labeled Anti-Vaxxers. I was just trying to show you an example of a form that someone with a philosophical objection might use. I'm also confused between the difference between philosophical and personal objections.
I don't know about colleges in the States. In Ontario, you can just submit a form that it's against your personal beliefs and that's pretty much all you need to do. The actual amount of people who do it doesn't substantiate any worries. From what I've heard, the objections are few and rare.

To me its obvious that mandatory vaccinations have practically eradicated many diseases from our society.
Problem #1 is that polio is just a word. People today have never seen a person infected with polio. If they had, they would be aghast. #2 is that yes, there is some evidence that maybe some additives to the cocktail may be causing some developmental or mental conditions. Maybe they should just tell you "hey...theres an X chance of autism here" like when you get a surgery. Do you realize everytime anyone gets a surgery they accept the possibility that it might kill them.

Well I finally asked about this & my teacher said a philosophical objection basically is a personal belief objection. He said our state doesn't allow for philosophical objections. It's only if there's a medical reason for not getting them that you can be excused. All kids including those who homeschool have to get vaccinated. I don't think it's a big deal here tbh cause I've never heard about it being one. Heard about the mess in Cali but folks there are kinda different about a lotta stuff. Yeah that make sense there's not that many ppl who object in Ontario either.

If I remember correctly a lot of the worst outbreaks have been in the Midwest, some were Amish, some were other religious groups. religious groups are a particular risk because they can create a large number on unimmunized people in a social grouping. The strange entitled mindset in some parts of California didn't really create as good a pocket for spreading as a single antivax Church does.

I don't get the antivax thing at all. Maybe it's like that religion that doesn't believe in any medicine or something. Christian science? There were siblings in my homeschool group who believed in that. They don't believe even in taking aspirin or in normal stuff. Their mom just told them to pray when they got sick or hurt. No pain relievers or medicine allowed. Maybe the Amish are like that too cause I mean they don't believe in electricity & stuff so it would make sense they don't believe in medicine either.

It is good that there aren't as many objections, at universities, in Ontario. One of my friends is living in Ontario, this year. He said they are having the worst whooping cough outbreak, in 12 years. Many people, do not realise they have whooping cough, at first. Runny eyes & nose, coughing, can look like a cold. They don't know how contagious they are, in time to quarantine themselves. At a university, it would be a big problem, as people live in close quarters.

I've also heard about the sharp rise in whooping cough outbreaks in Canada. Tragically an infant died due to it last week.
Australia has also grappled with outbreaks this past month. Thankfully most people who have whooping cough do survive it (though from personal experience I can verify that it can be a tormenting ordeal), but there is increasing evidence that it poses long-term risks, especially in infants. The New York Times ran an article a few weeks ago about how infants who have whooping cough are at a higher risk for epilepsy.

Yes, dorms are breeding grounds for germs. We are all living, eating, studying, and socializing in close quarters. I am under the weather currently and am remaining at home until the 10th mainly because my defense system is so weak I'm a walking sponge for all those germs.

I'm sorry you are under the weather, sweetie. I've been recovering from pneumonia. Stupid asthma kicks my butt eveytime I get a cold. I feel like wrapping myself in bubble wrap for the winter. I need some sun! It's been so grey and depressing here. I think I'm withering away without the sun. Miss you. xoxo

I hope, you get to feeling better soon. With having asthma, you might want to consider getting the pneumococcal vaccines.

Thanks. But no, thanks. :)

Lol, I don't think she was offering to give one to you. Think she was trying to help you help yourself out. Help out everybody around you. Pneumonia is awful for real. A man at our church died from it this year. He wasn't all that old. Like maybe 31-32. Idk. He had little kids. It took his life pretty quick. If pneumonia kicked your butt so bad like you said Idk why wouldn't just get the vaccine. You're not one of those Christian Scientists who are against all medicine & stuff are you? Cause if not well then I'm  for real.
